Feeling a little lazy but a lot excited!!

We had a lot of discussion today regarding our activities for this semester. And guess what… this semester we have not one but two VIRTUAL MICROBE projects. A local one and an international one!!! This is so exciting! I can’t wait to get started.

Another exciting new is that this semester we will be having a fieldtrip as well… most probably to YAKULT FACTORY. Can’t wait for the free Yakult either!

17 February 2017
Today Dr Wan introduced Augmented Reality(AR) to the class. She suggested us to use the app called Aurasma. I find it really cool because we can just use our smartphone to scan a picture and a video pops out!! Cool right ?

I also came to realise that this topic not too bad after all.

9th March 2017
We have started with topic 2 FUNGI, one of my favorite (I'm not sure why).
I really enjoyed the class today because there were a lot of learning and laughing as well. Our answers for Dr Wan's questions gave her a headache I guess (especially Bernard :p)
Today also I discovered that ringworm is a fungal infection. Never thought of that and I knew that ringworm is not caused by some worm (just a friendly reminder). The infection looks like a ring therefore the name. Additional information trichophyton, microsporum, and epidermophyton are the three types of fungi that may cause ringworm.

For further inquiries regarding ringworm infection, please do click HERE

P/S : Can't wait for TUESDAY !!!
          You all know why.

Also got a free Yakult drink.
Then we walk around the factory watching from a far how Yakults are made. Sadly, we were not allowed to take any pictures.
Overall it was a fun experience.
It was so funny that on the same day Yakult was visited by kids from two different kindergartens.

Then in the evening we had class where we finished topic 2 Fungi.

15 March 2017
Today we attended a antibiotic resistance talk in INTI International College. Then Pyrrhophyta/Dinoflagellates under PROTISTS.

23rd March 2017
Did some revision today.
There was supposed to be quiz to check if we were ready for Test 1 tomorrow (I was not). We answered few questions (around 5-6) in groups. We did not get to complete all the questions as we had no enough time.
24th March 2017
Test 1!
To be honest, I was not fully prepared. I went into the exam hall hoping that I could manage to answer at least half of the paper.

28 March 2017
Today we started a new topic which is PRINCIPLE OF MICROBIAL ECOLOGY. It is quite a simple topic but never underestimate it because there are quite a number of terms to be remembered precisely, for example, ecology, habitat, niche, biotic, abiotic and many many many more.
At the end of the class, we played Kahoot which was prepared by group 7 since they were in charge of this topic. Actually, this was my first time playing Kahoot by myself using my phone. Surprisingly, I managed to place fifth (even with many wrong answers) and got an Apollo!!
Dr also gave some clarifications regarding Virtual Microbes as there was lots of confusion going on. There was also a simple tutorial on how to use Blendspace and Padlet *Dr strongly believed that some of us do not know how to use them eventhough we have been "using" them for more than one semester*

30 March 2017
Today we carried on with Principle of Microbial Ecology. Group 7 did an amazing job during their presentation. I really appreciate their effort especially in creating the comic (hand drawn) just to make us understand this topic.
