The temperatures in a savanna is fairly stable, in the winter the temperatures average around 58-76 degrees F, and in the summer they average to 77-85 degrees F.
They also experience two additional seasons, wet and dry. During the wet season, a savanna can expect to get about 25-50 inches of rain every few months. In the dry season, only 5-15 inches may fall over a 2-11 month period.

Plants in a savanna are often adapted to having very little water over some long periods of time. Trees' root systems will reach far down into the earth, often up to 30 feet below the surface to reach for water during the dry seasons. Small bushes will be able to live without fresh water for months on end, and come the wet season, will sprout green and brightly colored flowers.

Animals in a savanna are often very used to not having fresh water for up to a month, but that is not the only adaptation these animals may have. Predator have camouflaged themselves, most major threats being the color of the beige grass and sand that often covers a savanna. Prey have been camouflaging themselves too, Zebras in particular have an odd version of this. The black and white stripes create a confusing chase for predators like lions, who often cannot pick a single zebra to chase as they sem to blend into one another, creating and optical allusion that most times scures their survival.

Savannas are typically dry and humid, so the soil and rock is often very dry as well. THe soil is more like sand, and the rocks will tend to be very brittle and easy to break away from water sources.
Savannas often have many natural rock formations, including mountains, freestanding plateaus, and others.
