2.       The special features of assessing students in PBL

·         Principle 1: Assessment should be valid, reliable and authentic

·         Principle 2: There is an integration of formative and summative assessments in PBL.

·         Principle 3:  Assessment evaluate and reflect on their own learning

- PBL and assessment align with learning outcomes and academic standards

- PBL assessments require that Ss investigate and create solutions to that specific problem in a driving question

- PBL summative assessments should combine at least three types of learning objectives, ranging from content objectives and soft skills objectives

- Formative assessments are not tests after each unit of learning. They include different assessments along the learning process to check Ss current understanding and help Ss achieve the learning goals.

- Teachers know where each student is => they can provide feedback and feedforward accordingly and differentiate their teaching

- Self- assessments play a vital role in PBL and there are also peer-assessments in PBL.
