The first carnival is the swimming carnival in term one, which we had last week. We go to Water Worx which is a place where we learn to swim. We have races for different strokes like freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and many more. In term two we have cross country. At the cross country carnival we go to Robelle Domain, which is a big park. We run laps of the whole park depending on our age. In term three there is an athletics carnival where we do events like high jump, long jump, discus, shotput and many more. In 2016 we had it at the Indropilly campus and last year we had it at our school oval. At each carnival there are house teams with their own colour. The Mitchelle team is red,  Leichhardt team is yellow and Chuningham team is blue. There is an award for the team with the most points. A point is given in each time you participate in a event at the carnival. There is also an award for the team with the most spirit. That is the team which is most encouraging, loud and supportive.
Each of these carnivals is near the end of the term because we get to practice the events during our sports lessons. In year six we also get the opportunity to help the lower primary carnivals.

Each of these carnivals are near end of term because then we get to practice the events during our sport lessons otherwise known as sports developement of HPE. We have a lot of fun as we get a day of work and it is like a weekend but you get to see your friend for a whole day. In these races we have three sports teams, Mitchell which is the red team, Leichhardt, which is the yellow team and cunningham which is the blue team. Each person joins a house color when they join the school. The team with the most amount of points in each carnival will br awarded and you get points by participating in the event or coming first, second or third. We have the same but bigger school in Indropilly although our school is only a quarter of theirs as they have around 2000 pupils but we only have around 500 students and they have a lot of the people that excel in a certain sport or in academics but we only have a few who excel in certain activities.

Each age group runs one or two laps of the park and sometimes ( if you’re lucky) the sprinklers might be on while you are running and you can get cooled down. In the third term is the last sporting event for the year; Atheletics Carnival. The Atheletics Carnival includes many events such as short running races, shotput, discus, long jump, high jump and relays at the end of the day. Our sporting houses are Mitchell (red), Leichhardt (yellow) and Cunningham (blue). We have a marathon that everyone has to compete a 1.5km race or more in Robelle Domain which is a big park and if we are lucky enough we could get wet by the sprinklers running to cool down and we could race 1.5 km or more with other schools which make it harder. Our last carnival is Running, discuss, shotput, long jump and high jump which is easy for everyone to do such everybody has a different skill  to compete in. In my class I am the second fastest long distance runner for my age group ( which is the younger age group). Cross Country is my second favourite sport event. Our last event is the athletics carnival. In this carnival we have 8 events. These are Shot put, 100m Sprints, Long jump, High jump, 200m of running, 400m running, 800m running and discus. In the higher events e.g. AIC (Australian Indipendent Colleges.) The primary schools swimming carnival was last week. We are each divided into different house groups , there are three groups at out school. Leichhardt, Cunningham and Mitchell. At the swimming carnival you can chose which strokes you want to do. You can chose from Freestyle, backstroke, frogkicks, kickboard, noodle and butterfly, but if you want to do all of them you can. Then you can chose to do 50 meters or 25 meters. This year Mitchell won (my group). At the end if we have time we have free swimming.

At our school, we have three carnivals. The first is a swimming carnival, hosted at a local swimming pool and held during late summer, so most likely the middle of Term 1. The second is a cross country carnival, held in Autumn, and at a local park down the road from school. The third is a athletics carnival, which is on our school oval and is usually held sometime from the end of winter to the start of spring. We actually just had our swimming carnival a few days ago. The first "carnival" is swimming. During our swimming carnival it is a day where we can race our peers and have a go. We can participate in events such as backstroke, freestyle, breathstroke and butterfly; we also have uncompetitive races such as noodle races and kickboard  races where we can get points for our team. At the end of each carnival there is a team given a trophy for the maximum amount of points, and another team is given a trophy for, "House Spirit." Meaning the team with most encouraging and cheering. At St Peters there is three teams, or houses named after famous people. I am in Leichart which is the yellow team, but there is also Mitchell which is red and Cunningham which is blue. There is lots of rivalry beetween each of teams as they all want to win. This carnival was at Water Worx our local aquatic centre. The second carnival we have is cross country. Cross country is where you run long distance based on your age (between 1.5-3 km). Our school have our cross country hosted at Robelle Domain which is our local park/ reserve. The third and final athletics (Personal favourite) is where we do a whole lot of track and field events such as shotput, discus, 100 and 200 metre sprinting, long jump and high jump. During the day when we're not doing our activities we usually dance and sing to music and have a fun time.

On the carnivals we have three houses. The houses are Leichhardt, Cunningham and Mitchell. Leichhardt is the yellow team. Cunningham is blue and Mitchell is red. I’m in Leichhardt.

After everyone finishes their events some students get awards for age champion. Also the sport teacher announces which team got the most points and won.

I got one first and three seconds. On Thursday, I am representing St Peters in another swimming carnival.  I will be competing against other schools. The first one we have in each year is the swimming carnival. Were you have the choice to swim some strokes, for example we can swim a shorter length of 25 or 50 metres. You can swim some of these strokes there is freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and there is a relay at the end of the swimming carnival, and there is sometimes a free swim. I swam 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 25 breaststroke and the relays. You can also dress up with your house colours which is really fun.Then next in the year you have a cross country carnival, which is where you will run a certain distance in the quickest time possible. Then finally there is a sports day we’re you do lot of different sports. Some of the sports are 800 metre running, discus is we’re you through a disc as far as possible in a certain area, long jump were you jump as far as you can, high jump were you jump over the pole as many times possible and it get higher and shot put were you through a heavy ball as far as possible. At the end of all of this there is the age championships were you do it again if you come 1st place 2nd place or 3rd place.  You also have a house colour and there is leichardt house which is yellow and I’m in it, there is Mitchell house which is red and Cunningham which is blue.

Unfortunately, in this swimming carnival Mitchell came first and Leichhardt came second.
