^ Nurses helped injured soldiers and soldiers who were victims of the mustard gas that was used to attack during ww1. The use of gas masks helped to prevent them from inhaling toxins. 
^Soldiers wore gas masks to protect themselves from Mustard gas. Also large blisters appear on exposed skin.
^Many soldiers attempt to cross over trenches and through crucial barbed wire. Only a few made it.

Americans are assuming the Spanish were responsible for the Maine Destruction. During this time a letter was leaked to the American press called the DE Dome Letter. This letter criticized American President William McKinley by calling him weak and concerned only with gaining the favor of the crowd.
