My name is Anabel, I'm 22 years old. I was born and raised in a family of 5, in Venezuela, in a small town called Barquisimeto. I have a big sister, and a little brother. We live together us 3 in Madrid and we go visit our parents during the holidays in December. I went to Dublin, Ireland when I was 13 for a year to learn english and then came back to my home country to finish school. When I graduated from high school I went to Bourges, France for another year to learn french. Both of them great experiences, very different from eachother. After that I came straigth to Madrid to start studding for the exams to get addmited to my dream university UPM. At that moment I was not clear what I wanted to study, I knew I wanted engineering but I didn't knew which one. I spent a whole year thinking and trying new things. Since I was a little kid I liked very much everything about nutrition and spend a big part of my childhood in the kitchen, I loved cooking desserts but making them healthier, and I still do. This is how I ended up in Food engineering

My name is Rocío, I am 21 years old and I study food engineering in the UPM.

I was born in 2004 in Madrid and moved to a small town with my parents, where I lived in a flat near my cousins, with whom I spent a big part of my early childhood. We grew close, almost like siblings, we would play everyday and tease each other all the time.

When I was 5 years old, my younger brother was born, and so, the flat was now too small for the four of us and we had to move to a nearby town, into a bigger house, where I started primary school. I was very shy as a young child so I found it difficult to make friends, but I managed to befriend a girl named Celia, who would become my best childhood friend. I used to go to her house every other weekend, we loved to draw together, watch shows and swim in her pool. At 8 years old I was enrolled in a music school, where I picked the saxophone as my instrument, which I still play today.

When I was 12 years old and I started high school, my friend moved away, leaving me in a class filled with new people where I made some friends my age, who I became really close with and I still have contact with today. At 13 years old I became friends with a group a year yonger than me and we spent time during my town's festivals and made some really great memories with them.

By the time I was 15, my teen years were interrupted by the global pandemic and I stopped hanging out with friends, taking every chance I could to take a walk for a few minutes, so I ended up taking my brother on bike rides.

By the time I was 16, I switched schools and studied bachillerato, specializing in health sciences. After taking the EVAU exams at 17, I tried to enroll in biotechnology, with food engineering as my second option and planned to switch by second year.

After my first year in food engineering, I decided to finish my degree as I found it more interesting than I predicted. As of today, I am in my fourth year of this career and so far, I'm enjoying it.

As I previously stated, I am studying food engineering, which was my second option behind biotchnology. I ended up staying in this field because I found myself enjoying the subjects, including those involving math and physics, which I thought I was worse at but I started to do really good at during the past 3 years of university.

I don't have much work experience, except during summers, when I help out my father with our family's grove, where we pick up vegetables and greens so my mother can sell the products in her store. I spent these past years as a full time student so I could afford to finish my career in less years but I am excited to finally work in this field once I finish studying.

I am currently studying to graduate as a Food Engineering. I love the carreer, is everything I imagined it would be. I enjoyed everthing about chemistry and math, I think I'm better at logical/scientific work. That's the reason I chose Engineering instead of being a nutritionist, which was my first option. I had the privilage to dedicate myself to study and study only, because of my supporting parents. I hope to graduate this year and start working in this beautiful field. I do not have work experience yet. I have worked with my parents back home, they own a fried chicken fast food company that I aspire to work at, once I finish the carreer next year.
