''A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte'' (in French called Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte) painted by Georges Seurat in year 1884-1886. The subject matter can be depicted from the scenery of the park, consists the Parisians, both upper class and middle class people with their kids and pets, also some of them might be prostitute. They were all just spending their leisures at a park on the banks of the River Seine. Seurat technically used oil paintings on a normal canvas, with a pointillism or divisionism method of brushwork. He painted this masterpiece with simultaneous contras of colour, mixed and contrasted miniature dots or small brushstrokes of colors that when unified optically in the human eye were perceived as a single shade or hue. True, Georges Seurat started this artwork in May 1884 and wanted to exhibit it during Salon des Indépendants of 1885 but unfortunately it didn't work as he thought so he went back and work on more details for the painting. There was criticism about his 'too mathematically' artwork but he got no problems with it and finally succeeded. This is a post-impressionism piece of artwork, where the painter led the new art movement.

The painting is called A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte painted by Georges Seurat. It consisted of a number of Parisians, dogs and boats as they forgathered for a Sunday afternoon in the sunny park. It also included boaters , the young and old and people of varying classes of dress. It is a pointilist technique , executed on a large canvas. Seurat made his shadows by the colour that they come into contact with. The shadows are the example of the combination of the colors.
Technique of pointillism shows its unique aspect is where the light from the left comes into contact with people and objects in the piece. The blend of such colors is pointillism's primary concern and as its founder Seurat's work epitomizes the technique. Seurat spent more that two years for this painting, focusing on the landscape of the park. He reworked the original and completed numerous preliminary drawings and oil sketches. He believed that divisionism , now known as pointillism would make the colors more brilliant and powerful than standard brushstrokes. The artmovement is called Post-Impressionism. Georges Seurat's Grande Jatte came at a time when the Impressionist movement was in need of new inspiration. With La Grande Jatte, Seurat acknowledged as the leader of a new form of Impressionism called Neo-Impressionism.

This painting is called A Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Jatte and it is done by George Seurat in 1884.This painting is one of his most famous works. In this picture there are middle classes people in it.The location looks some sort of like a park. This painting is done with Oil on Canvas.Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments. His intention was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color which is known as pointilism that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual pigments. He was able to capture an interesting glimpse of wealthy Parisian life in the 19th century. This art movement is called Post Impressionism which conclude these 4 methods which is composition , colour palette , perspective and also the use of light.Seurat's balance is carefully positioned and proportioned so that the entire work is interesting to look at.He utilizes this blending technique through his use of shadows .Here the mix of green provides a blue shadow, which does not follow the conventions of shadow casting.Seurat's use of light is one of the unique points of the piece. The tree line at the top of the painting is one example of such a blended effect. Most of the figure's view is focused on the river to the left of the image.

This title of the painting is " A Sunday Afternoon On the Island of La Grande Jatte " by Georges Seurat. The subject of this painting is the landscape. Most of the figure's view is focused on the river to the left of the image. Despite the river comprising of only a small part of the painting, its busy portion draws the viewer's gaze. The figures at the front are also very close to the viewer, making the woman's dress in the front of the piece purposefully enlarged. This painting is done with oil on canvas. The technique he used is called pointillism, and it was first used to describe the work of Georges Seurat. Seurat, along with fellow artist Paul Signac, was inspired by the Impressionist paintings of the day. Seurat began to paint using small, distinct dots. Experience of Seurat is he spent more than two years painting A Sunday Afternoon. He is focusing meticulously on the landscape of the park and concentrated on issues of color, light, and the form. Seurat believe by using the technique of pointillism would make the colors more powerful. He want to make the experience of the painting even more vivid. Hence, the artwork of this painting is post-impressionism. A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte Story was eventually exhibited in the eighth Impressionist exhibition of May 1886.

The subject matter of this painting is that Georges Seurat depicted many people relaxing in a park called La Grande Jatte. In this painting he went and tried to capture the accidental and instantaneous qualities of light and nature. This painting was done with oil on canvas. The technique he uses for this art are small horizontal brushstrokes with complementary colour that when viewed from a distance far away forms solid and luminous images. This type of art style is called the Pointillism. His intention was to envoke permanence by recalling the art of the past. This painting was inspired by Egyptian, greek and intalian Renaissance arts. But most critics found his work to be more of a modern parison society than a nod to historical type of art. The significance of the artwork is that he has invented the Pointillism art technique. The painting "A Sunday Afternoon On the island of La Grande Jette is a big example of pointallist technique.

This artwork is titled "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" and is painted by Georges Seurat. The painting portrays a number of Parisians relaxing at a park on the banks of river Siene. If you look closely, the people are painted bleakly, cloaked as in they are in shadow and suspicion of sin. The materials used is oil and the medium used is canvas. He spent much time sketching in the park for preparation. He used a technique he developed, called divisionism. In addition, divisionism is based on the law of simultaneous contrast of colours. He used tiny dots of multicolored paint that allows the viewer's eyes to blend colours optically, rather than having the colours blend on canvas. The artist said that his ambition was to "Make modern people in their essential traits move about as they do on (ancient Greek) architectural ornaments and place them on canvases, organized by harmonies." Moreover, this painting encouraged a critique to invent the name "Neo-Impressionism" as it is a new style of impressionist art. Therefore, this painting made Georges Seurat a pioneer in neo-impressionism.
