EMS: RCVS it is for experience, not teaching - should be looking at how a practice works, not necessarily learning (vet school is teaching) - helps you make decisions on where you want to work

Returning to same placement and building up a trust 
Setting expectations of students and hosts - ask what the student would like to get out of it - needs to work on communication prior to starting placement 
Engagement in that type of ems 
Personality of student and how it is compatible it is to the practice culture 
Impact of social media/vet student community - benchmarking against others as to what they have done (competitive/fear of failure) 
Refocusing on professional skills 
Social factors: close to home, cost to drive/stay there
Impact of positive/negative AHEMS placements 

Potential lack of awareness of it being an opportunity which is given - the host is under no obligation to take you.
