How it's developed: Brainstorm with students - what do they know? Small groups, 3s, after, groups of say, 10s. Teamwork ability through practice - give students an issue and solve it. Also, conflict resolution - address issues together, and early. Seek solutions together.

Success: Ask students what is it? How to measure? Kids are engaged in work, continuing to learn and improve learning from success and failures.

Cultural identity influences how we connect with students. Connection is important because it builds trust, safety and security. Security and trust are important because it builds better quality relationships with our students. Relationships are important because when students have relationships with their teachers that mutually respectful and create safety and warmth, students are more likely to positively engage with the curriculum. Positive engagement is important as it creates the most informed learners and is integral in improving student learning outcomes. Learning outcomes are important because it provides students with greater knowledge and opportunities to succeed, and is unfortunately how schools are measured in terms of their success at a systemic level.

In the next month my students will investigate the benefits of learning the Indonesian language and culture, not just for the future but how it benefits their learning now. We will analyze arguments using 'Why the Why?', so they can understand why they have the ideas they do - an important part of critical thinking and breaking down sterotypical thinking.
