In 1973 Vonnegut won the Hugo Award For Best Dramatic Presentation, and in 1971 he won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Playwright. He also won the Writers Guild of America Award for Television Best Script, 30 Minutes or Less in Program Length award in 1960. In 2009 Vonnegut also won Audie Award for Short Stories/Collections.</div>]]></description>

He was later deployed to Europe to fight in World War II, but was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. He was imprisoned in Dresden and survived the Allied bombing of the city in the meat locker of the slaughterhouse where he was imprisoned, Slaughterhouse Five.</div>]]></description>
