It was a competition to see who was better . The olympics added more compitionshon between the countries to see who was better. The olympics also created competition  because they wanted to see whose government created better athletes. Because the cold war was a lot about the government. This added a lot of heat and made even more competition between the too countries.  This was because of how strong they felt for there form of government.

The stakes are less high. Because it's more sports pride than national pride.The USSR and the US are also not fighting about the government anymore and their competition is only in sports so there is less heat and pressure.. In the pretend day olympics there also less violence. When the cold war was going on the Olympics meant something completely different than what they mean now. The olympics during the cold war where also not safe because during the cold war olympics there where terrorist  attacks and people died now in the olypics theres till problems and disagreements on how things where done but its less violet . and i think are Olympics now are alot more safe,.
