In recent years, TeleTracking Technologies has introduced innovations that are transforming how transfer centers function. One of the most significant advancements is the enterprise COVID-19 capacity and census dashboard, developed to provide real-time visibility into bed availability, staffing, and patient volumes across health systems (TeleTracking Technologies, 2023). This tool laid the groundwork for ongoing command-center models that operate as “control towers,” allowing health systems to coordinate care at a regional level.

TeleTracking has also integrated AI-driven predictive discharge modeling, which can forecast patient discharges and anticipated bed openings before they occur. This improves hospital throughput by ensuring that patients are matched to available beds more quickly (Wei et al., 2024). Centralized dashboards provide hospital-wide situational awareness, while cloud-based integration allows data sharing across multiple hospitals within a system, enhancing communication and reducing transfer delays (TeleTracking Technologies, n.d.).

Together, these innovations go beyond traditional transfer workflows. They address critical challenges such as hospital overcrowding, pandemic surges, and gaps in inpatient transfer processes not covered under EMTALA. By automating patient placement, reducing phone traffic, and providing real-time transparency across facilities, TeleTracking represents a significant step forward in optimizing health system capacity and patient safety.

Experience:

In my role as co-chair of a Unit Practice Council, I have led workflow improvements and promoted evidence-based practices. In addition, as a Transfer Center Coordinator, I use these same strengths daily to manage complex transfers, align multiple hospitals and providers, and ensure safe, timely patient movement. Together, these experiences demonstrate how my strengths translate into leadership, coordination, and real-world problem-solving.
