Students often violate commandment one: "Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people." Students may use a computer to harm other people through cyberbullying, making fake accounts of different people, leaving mean comments on their posts, or even potentially hacking their accounts. All of these are becoming more common on social media platforms worldwide. Students also violate Commandment 4, which states, "Thou shalt not use a computer to steal." This commandment is frequently violated through the practice of plagiarism. Students often may copy information from the internet without proper citations and references. This is a big issue that many schools and universities try their best to warn students as it is illegal.

These violations occur due to a lack of understanding, potential influences or pressure, or ignorance that one's actions are wrong. Many students do not realize how serious the consequences of their actions may be when they engage in cyberbullying or even plagiarism. At the same time, information is straightforward to access and use from the Internet, which can further encourage students to copy it. The biggest reason I feel is that most people are simply unaware that what they may doing online is wrong or even illegal.
