Differentiating based on their needs, for how to show their learning. It should always be measurable. Writing answers on a piece of paper. For ELA, you can do a story telling assignment and you can differentiate the product by using a graphic organizer including pictures of the events, turn the story into a comic book, differentiating how students show they know the beginning, Middle, and end. A sentence per event in the story from the beginning, Middle, and end. Act out the story. What do you want the potential product to be at the end is a question to ask. Learning capitals of the states, break down by regions and color code. Incorporating art and visuals to the learning, helps students memorize better through engagement. Teacher giving students choice for how to complete a given project helps students be more engaged and motivated to demonstrate their learning. Differentiate based on specific needs and meeting students where they are at. Example; non-verbal/limited verbal students use more visuals and communication devices to answer questions, some students verbally retell a story or answer questions, and some students can write a summary of the story.
