The issue was that no one in the city aside from local police knew about what was happening. The sight of the plane so close to the city made people panic due to the trauma of 9/11. The mayor, Michael Bloomberg, even made a statement on how there should have been information sent out to him. The Guardian also said that a White House aide had to resign due to this named Louis Caldera who was the head of the White House military office. His office approved of the photo op and afterwards had to deal with the controversy. Only local police were informed, when everyone should have been. Considering this event had to go through multiple people, someone should have pointed out how the public would react to a plane that was strangely low over New York City. In fact, I would have given this event more publicity because it involves the president. Not only that, but I would have either changed to destination of the photo op or used a different plane because of the image of a passenger plane so close to the ground in New York City would make a chilling image even if people knew it was a photo op. The PR for this would be remembered because of fear and haunted imagery instead of patriotism and excitement.
