In London and the provinces, large purpose-built auditoriums were built to house the huge crowds that flocked nightly to see <strong>plays</strong> and musical performances. A variety of entertainments were on offer, from <strong>plays</strong>and ballets to tightrope-walkers and acrobats.<br><strong>Romanticism</strong> was characterized by its <strong>emphasis</strong> on emotion and individualism as well as glorification of all the past and nature, preferring the medieval rather than the classical.<br><strong>Naturalism</strong> added scientific elements such as environment and heredity to fictional characters. </div>]]></description>
