My parents decided to use their middle names to name me, so my dad's middle name is Marcelo, and my mother's is Karina. For some reason when I tell people my name they tend to hear Karen, Karin, Corina, but never KA-RI-NA. This is my Senior year! YAY!!! I currently work at the Department of Social Services and have been there for the past 6 years. It has been a long journey academically, and professionally to get where I am at, but every moment has been worth it. I initially wanted to get my degree in Social Work, but towards the end of taking my last classes I would of had to be a full time student, which was not an option. I work full time and have a family to take care of so I had to switch my degree to BIS degree. I am combining the courses that I have already taken for Social Work, and want to focus on working with children, whether it is through Social Services or a non-profit. I love working with children, and enjoy watching them learn. I believe this course will allow me obtain the knowledge and tools to understand different cultures and helping families obtain resources and communicate through my Social Work experience.
