         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Hook</strong>: Imagine working the entire day in a field getting whipped to keep working and not even getting paid for it with any type of currency.</div><div><strong>Background Information</strong>:The <em>Narrative of the Life of Douglass </em>is a book written by Frederick Douglass, a former slave himself, in 1845 about the harsh conditions of slavery. This story about slavery is special compared to others given that it was written by a slave himself and describes in great detail the life of slavery firsthand.<br><strong>Thesis Statement</strong>: Along with the use of figurative language Douglass uses his personal experience to show the effects of slavery on slaves and slaveholders which supports his position to end slavery.</div>]]></description>

By doing this Frederick Douglass opened up many people's eyes to the true life of slavery and that many people everyday were suffering from it just because they came from a different place in the world. Douglass exposed the true thing called slavery and slaveholders; therefore being known as an american hero.</div>]]></description>
