Background Information:The Narrative of the Life of Douglass is a book written by Frederick Douglass, a former slave himself, in 1845 about the harsh conditions of slavery. This story about slavery is special compared to others given that it was written by a slave himself and describes in great detail the life of slavery firsthand.
