Aristotle was famous for rejecting Plato's theory of forms. Aristotle is an ancient Greek philosopher that made contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, ethics, politics, agriculture, medicine, and theatre. As the father of logic, he was the first to develop a formalized system for reasoning. Aristotle was one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived and the first genuine scientist in history. He was also a teacher and founded his own school in Athens, known as the Lyceum.

Aristotle once said, “A virtue is a habit or quality that allows the bearer to succeed at his, her, or its purpose. The virtue of a knife, for example, is sharpness; among the virtues of a racehorse is speed. Thus to identify the virtues for human beings, one must have an account of what the human purpose is”. The purpose of a human, according to Aristotle, is to pursue happiness. When Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence he was influenced by Aristotle, but also by all of the Enlightenment figures.

The writings of Aristotle helped guide the Philadelphia delegates in to writing the American Constitution. Through time Aristotle identified six different constitutions, which were separated between right and wrong. According to Aristotle, right constitutions served the common interests of all citizens and helped the community as a whole. Wrong constitutions served only the selfish interests of a certain person or specific group. Among these ideas are the belief in the rule of law, moderation and a government that serves the common interest of all citizens.

The moral theory of Aristotle is surrounded by virtue. He was recommending the virtuous way of life by its relation to happiness. Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher who contributed in the findings of both symbolic logic and scientific thinking. He also had a new approach for the branch of philosophy known as metaphysics, which was moving away from the expectation of his mentor,Plato. He rejected Plato’s theory to follow more of an observation and less cryptic view of the nature of reality.

Aristotle was a great influence to the founding fathers. Aristotle was a student of Plato and after Plato died he became a teacher of Alexander the Great. One of Aristotle’s major beliefs was that some people were born to rule and others were born to be ruled. This belief caused a change for the founding fathers by setting up a system of elected officials to help guide the government. Aristotle also believed in separation of powers in a government which led the founding fathers to constitute the separate branches of power.
