climate change is worsening as percentage of greenhouse gases in atmosphere increases. Climate change causes unusual heat waves and erratic storms. Thermal expansion is when the sea expands due to hot weather, flooding over to land, submerging several countries within a few years. Heatwaves in Western Europe has caused many deaths as it was too hot for habitation. instead of burning coal for electricity, solar panels be used to absorb sunlight, as well as wind turbines, using kinetic energy to be converted to electrical energy.

Climate change is causing extreme weather, like droughts, floods and fires. Climate change causes floods as a hotter atmosphere holds more water, causing more rain and hence floods. Hot water also takes up more space than cold water, further causing floods. Middle Eastern countries could become too hot in live in, possibly causing them to cease to exist. There is no point at which it is too late to slow down climate change.

Rather than burning fuels and factories, we can use electricity from solar panels and windmills.

While greenhouse gases are natural-occurring and beneficial in the fact they keep earth warm, by climate change, we are putting heat into the earth by putting more carbon dioxide and green house gases than normal into the earth.

We burn fossil fuels to generate energy for a variety of things, and they are made from millions-of-years-old of animals and plants. Since these are effective sources of energy, they are commonly burnt and hence carbon dioxide is released into the earth.

A hotter atmosphere, caused by climate change, can hold more water, and hence when there’s heavy rain, there’s more water pouring down, hence causing floods.

As the earth’s temperature increases, the water level increases, not to mention ice caps also begin to melt.

Since there’s hotter and drier vegetation, when a fire starts, it spreads fast.

Instead of usual power plants that burn coal, we can use wind turbines and solar panels.

Ultimately, we are in control of our climate change. Every tenth of a degree matters.

What can we do? Vote, get involved in the politics. The people we vote will have tons of control over how we tackle climate change.

What has changed 12 years? Renewables have become cheaper, and solar and wind has become much cheaper. Back then, people didn’t really notice or talk about it. As time goes on, more people talk about it, more people are aware of it, more people are more serious about climate change than a few years ago.

There are many ways to stop climate change, like building more mrt stations. However, there are still many more ways for us to stop climate change.

Climate change can be slowed down but it cannot be stopped fully as we need to burn fossil fuels for electricity and energy; we cannot just stop using these. However, there are cleaner and greener energy sources that can replace burning fossil fuels, for example: Wind and solar energy.Climate change causes extreme weather like floods, droughts, wildfires and heat waves. We can also make a difference by voting for politicians who make a difference.

I learnt that some foods that are typically eaten by people, such as prawns or squid, are actually considered unsustainable by the WWF. This may largely influence people to change their dietary choices, including what they eat and where it is sourced from. Furthermore, I also realised that major corporations known to give fisheries their certifications, such as MSC, can even have occasions of mislabeling. This is considered food fraud, and misleads consumers on what they may actually be eating.

For example, one problem of cat island is that since these cats hunt for birds and small animals, their populations and declining and this may have an impact on the ecosystem in the island. Secondly, these cats are not showered, neutered, basically not taken proper care of despite the many tourists, thus, they may carry diseases, which could be spread to humans. They also have diseases like respiratory issues which go untreated. In conclusion, I learnt that I should understand the behind the scenes of islands when I visit them to make sure I am not doing anything harmful to the island.

I grew up thinking of how many shipwrecks nestled deep in the ocean and how it was impossible for marine life to reside there. Now, I'm astounded to discover all the bioluminescent species such as jellyfish who have amazing adaptations and look rather odd and alien like when caught on camera. After all, only 5% of the ocean has been discovered, and remains a mystery to us possibly even more than space.

Some even keep them as pets just because they think it’s cute and cool. however under these environments a lot of animals will suffer from illness and even die. These species being killed and growing lesser and lesser in population and might be extinct soon. Thankfully countries come together to help stop these acts by setting up laws and more strict security to prevent more of them being hunted.

As Singapore is a busy trading port, there will also be animals or animal parts brought to Singapore where Singapore will take action. A lot of people that also enjoy having exotic pets that seem cute will also have to kill some wildlife to obtain the pets. We should learn to not abuse animals and put them out of their natural environments, especially exotic ones
