I was late in getting this padlet to work, so this isn't required, but if you feel like it, please title a post with your name and do these two things: 1. Write down one interesting thought from another student that you heard in today's discussion. 2. Write something positive you noticed or liked about our discussion today. Let's hype up our class!

1. Competition is necessary for the society to advance. Also, equality is necessary but to a certain extent. Everyone should be given equal opportunities, but no one should be punished for being naturally gifted, or for working hard to get to the spot that they are at. Also rather making everyone equal, we should use everyone's strengths to the society's advantage. Everyone is special in their own way.
2. I liked how people disagreed with others, because this let everyone see the problem for different point of views.

The government does not have any handicaps and it shows how they are not equal.

Somebody mentioned how people listened and trusted the authorities when they declared Harrison Bergeron was a threat to society since they can't think for themselves, which shows just how much control the government has. I thought it was interesting when someone mentioned that whether Harrison is regarded as a threat or not is ultimately a matter of perspective. The main takeaway from this conversation that I deeply agree with is how equality is unattainable.
I enjoyed listening to this Socratic seminar because of how the conversation seemed to flow. There were no awkward silences and there were always questions and counter-arguments brought up that raised really interesting issues.
