In Luke 20:27 Luke writes about one of Jesus' messages to the Sadducees about having to pay taxes to Caesar. The Gospel of Luke was written around 80-90 AD but the story he is writing about is from when Jesus was living. Jesus' ministry started when he was about 30 (based on Luke) so his ministry went from about 27-36 AD so this was the time that Luke was writing about. The Caesar during the ministry of Jesus would have been Tiberius who was in power from 14-37 AD. So the times that Jesus was preaching about Caesar do align up with one another.

In chapter 20 the story of John the Baptist was mentioned and archeological finds have supported the life of John the Baptist. A research team dated a right-handed knuckle to the first century AD (when John is believed to be alive). Scientists came to the results after analyzing DNA that the bones came from an individual man from the (moder-day) Middle East. The rest of the remains that were found at an ancient monastery in the Black Sea were a skull, jaw, arm, and a tooth. After years of analyzing, researchers have concluded that these findings support the life of John the Baptist.

The speech makes several points. First, Luke clearly shows how the destruction of A.D. 70 is distinct from but related to the end. The two events should not be confused, but Jerusalem's destruction, when it comes, will guarantee as well as picture the end, since one event mirrors the other. Both are a part of God's plan as events move toward the end.

With a population of around 1,500, Capernaum was a fishing village located in what is now known as modern day Israel in the Sea of Galilee region. It was in this village that Jesus performed various miracles, according to the book of Luke in the Bible (including healing a centurion's servant), and the ruins of such said temple in which some miracles were performed in, have been found to some degree. As well as what is thought to have been the house of Peter, one of Jesus' twelve disciples. These archeological findings support the validity of these events transpired in Capernaum. And even if they don't, at least the validity of the village known as Capernaum is confirmed.

The historian Flavius Josephus was reported being in the village of Capernaum when hurt during a battle. Flavius was a known historian in the Roman Empire who had defected towards them after being captured. The archeological findings were made by archeologists associated with Greek Orthodox Church.
