The Bureau took up the fight for African Americans while also causing further racial tensions in the South. (DOC 2) The point of view of this cartoon is based on their political affiliation with the Democratic Party. The Democrats were predominantly southerners who were openly opposed to African Americans gaining the same rights as Whites. Congress had renewed the Bureau's charter, however, President Johnson had vetoed the rechartering. Congress overrode the veto which caused more damage than good.

This document portrays that by showing a colored man being lazy and laying back while the white men are working around him, supposedly for their families (DOC 2). The Freedman’s Bureau’s point of view is what they believe and politically what they stand for, which cannot be detected by the somewhat equal beliefs the cartoon is portraying. It explains that whites have to work keep their family alive but the African American are given everything they need without working. The freeing of the slaves greatly angered the southerners because they didn’t believe they deserved the same opportunities as they did. They believed blacks weren’t hard workers and didn’t deserve to be free. The southerners after the the slaves were freed was very similar to that of the northerners after the Fugitive Slave Act was passed because the anger was built up and eventually brought them to their breaking point.

In the Freedman’s Bureau cartoon, a black person is seen lackadaisically lying down. While he is doing this, white men can be seen in the background plowing fields and chopping wood. (Doc 2) The author’s point of view is derogatory towards black people and is based upon their political affiliation. Southern democrats were still fighting tooth and nail after the Civil War to get black people’s rights stripped to the bare minimum. This cartoon advocates for that by calling them lazy and incompetent without a master.

This document is showing a southern perspective and that African Americans were getting a luxury treatment according to them. The whites were having to do work to keep things and pay for taxes. And if you supported the Congress you supported the African Americans, but if you supported the president you were protecting the white man. (Doc 2). The point of view is saying that the south didn’t like how the Congress was doing things.

The Freedman's Bureau document elaborates on the civil rights issue after the Civil War. The document shows a freedman lounging at the expense of the white man who claims to be working to support his family and make a living (Doc 2). The Freedman's Bureau document's point of view is political affiliation because it relates the Black man to congress and the white man to the president. The document claims that supporting congress would be to support an African American and in order to protect the white man people must support the president.

The Freedman's Bureau shows in the image that white men will do all the labor to support the black men (DOC 2). The point of view of the cartoon is to show the negative aspects for the white men, as slaves begin to gain their freedom. Shows that the white men will have to put in all the effort for black men to have freedom. The cartoon wants to show that if black people gain freedom it will add more stress for white men. In addition it wants white people to see that slaves earning their freedom will not be a good thing.
