Most colleges now are trying to improve their mental support services for their students on campus. Scholars say the sooner the better of getting mental health support decreases the chance of it getting worse. GPA's are a very high reasoning of depression and anxiety. The course load of colleges were another factor of depression and anxiety. Lastly, 25 used to be the normal age of mental health issues kicking in. Now it has bumped down to 18-19 which is the age of college freshman and sophomore students. In conclusion more college staff are being hired to help with struggling students https://www.acenet.edu/Documents/Investing-in-Student-Mental-Health.pdf

Nuha
The number of students being treated for mental health in colleges has increased tremendously. Students who have mental illness take their medication and follow a routine, however when the students come to college they are on their own and often times end up neglecting their routine. Some of the factors that may contribute to students depression/anxiety/etc. is the price of tuition for college. Another factor is that students are used to being in the comfort of their parents home that once the students leave for college they are unprepared for what college really is about. Most students do not go to counseling because they believe that they can truly work it out on their own. When in fact, their is no harm in asking for some help.
There are many sources to help fight/overcome mental health.
if you are feeling depressed/suicidal
Call 1-800-273-8255 (National Suicide Prevention Hotline)
https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/05/28/727509438/college-students-and-their-parents-face-a-campus-mental-health-epidemic
