Puritanism is a religious movement that came from the puritans who left England. Their original purpose was to purify England. They believed in a personal experience of salvation that you could get through Christ. They also believed that from birth it was decided that you would either go to heaven or hell. The only way you could be saved from going to hell was by having a personal experience of salvation through god

Witch Hunt

There are many reasons that the witch hunt in Salem happened. The main reason was that those same girls just kept accusing people of being witches and everyone kept believing them. What made it worse was that the only way you could be saved from being tortured or thrown in jail would be from admitting you were a witch. They would use various methods of torture on the people who wouldn't admit they were a witch. One way they would test a witch seeing if a witch would float when they tossed them into water tied to a log and if they sunk then they were innocent and not a witch.

Witches teat

One way they would see if someone was a witch was by finding a witches teat. They would strip the women naked and search for what is essentially a third nipple. They believed this tit was what the witch would use to feed the demons that she worked with. They would get a needle and basically pierce the nipple. If it had no pain that would mean you were a witch but if it had pain that would you weren't or the other way around.

Salem Massachusetts

Salem, Massachusetts is where these witch trials, and witch hunts took place. The puritans discovered this new land in America at a very poor time. The native people who lived in that land before them helped them to survive and had a big feast that we now know as thanksgiving. The Society of Salem was a very religious place. They raised they're boys to practice the word of god, and grow up to be hard working successful men

Witch Trial

A Salem witch trial was probably the most one sided thing that you could ever be a part of. The girls who would accuse you of being a witch went to the trial and whatever little movement you did or thing you said they would repeat so it made you look guilty. More than 200 people were accused and 30 people were convicted. The worst part about this is that they would use something called spectral evidence. Spectral evidence was essentially spiritual evidence that was used to pin you as guilty and you couldn't argue against it because it wasn't real. You could also be accused of sending a spirit to harm someone or scratch them or taunt them. There was also nothing you could do in that situation because it was your word against theirs at that point and theirs was stronger.
