Even though we had abolished slavery we had not given them the citizen ship they deserved. Almost 40% of the population was non white! They were still not allowed to vote. What was happening was that we were not exercising popular sovereignty because we were not letting a whole 40% exercise their right to vote.So on February 3rd 1870 we changed it so that all African Americans could vote

Congress felt that it would be unwise to allow one man control the fate of an entire country and its relations. During his trial evidence came up that he had recordings of evidence in his possesion and nixon refused to give them up. So the government decided it was constitutional that he has to give it up. So even presidents can be taken down if they are doing something wrong and thats exactly what happend to Nixon. We are very lucky that this was a failure because America prides it self on welcoming diversity and culture.
