Before the grand day of February 3rd 1870 not all men were not allowed to vote because of the color of their skin. Even though we had abolished slavery we had not given them the citizen ship they deserved. Almost 40% of the population was non white! They were still not allowed to vote. What was happening was that we were not exercising popular sovereignty because we were not letting a whole 40% exercise their right to vote.So on February 3rd 1870 we changed it so that all African Americans could vote

The Civil Rights Act was made to stop discrimination against women African Americans and minorities. They were able to stop all types of racism and sexism in the government by making a law that didn't allow any privileges to any specific gender or race. It was passed by the president Lyndon B Johnson. It has done so much for this country with the issues of equality.

This resolution deals with the president and how much power he is allowed to have. In 1973 a resolution was made that a president could not have total control over if America is allowed to declare war. They did this so that their would be no personal factors involved in the decision of war. Congress felt that it would be unwise to allow one man control the fate of an entire country and its relations. So they put a check on him so they could make sure it would never happen.

The 13th amendment was one of the most ground breaking laws ever to be made by the government. The 13th Amendment was a law that abolished slavery and made it illegal in all states because of human rights laws. This can show dynamic federalism because it can show that we can change the way our system works anytime we want to as long as most of us agrees. This amendment was able to give better lives to African people and allowed northern states to welcome the Africans home so that they may be officially called African Americans

Between the years of 1935 and 1940 an amendment was suggested and the amendment said that the entire country would have to vote to see if we would go to war. Which is not that smart because it would take time and cost us solders and money. So it was terminated and we never spoke of it again. So as you can see there are some amendments can get shot down.

The 22nd Amendment was made 1992 and was made to limit government. It was made to make sure that a president can not be elected twice. If this Amendment was not put into place there would be a lot of problems and it could make us a monarchy. If a person was elected again and again he or he would technically would be in the highest position of power possible for a long time which resembles a king.

In 1961 the 37th president retired from presidencey because he was caught in the water gate scandle. During his trial evidence came up that he had recordings of evidence in his possesion and nixon refused to give them up. So the government decided it was constitutional that he has to give it up. So even presidents can be taken down if they are doing something wrong and thats exactly what happend to Nixon. This shows that checks were placed on the president so he didnt have full power and that means that limited government helps in law cases.

The failed English language Amendment was a project that would make English the main language of america and make all the news papers and governmental documents to English only. We are very lucky that this was a failure because America prides it self on welcoming diversity and culture. If we made English our official language it would make it harder for immigrants to move here because of language barriers.
