Katrina made a landfall on Florida and Louisiana, also the city of New Orleans, and areas close to it in August 2005.
Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast on August 29,2005. After flood walls and levees were constructed to protect New Orleans, it failed and almost the whole city was underwater. At least 1,833 people died in the hurricane, and others were trapped.
