         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Rusty James</strong> - Main character / narrator, likes to get in fights and admires his older brother.<br><strong>The Motorcycle Boy</strong> - Main characters older brother, smart, steals motorcycles, and is considered the "coolest person in the world"<br><strong>Patty </strong>- Main characters girlfriend, dyes her hair blonde, can be crazy, and does not want Rusty to fight.<br><strong>Steve Hays</strong> - Main characters best friend, does not like to fight, and he also never likes to do anything wrong.<br><strong>Biff Wilcox</strong> - Big bully who pops pills and wants to kill Rusty because of what he said to a girl at school.<br><strong>Smokey Bennett</strong> - Friend of Rusty of whose funny, his colorless eyes gave him his nickname, and there is always tension between the two. <br><strong>Midget </strong>- tall, skinny friend of Rusty and he is taller than any other kid their age (verbal irony).<br><strong>Benny</strong> - owner of the pool place, does not do much in the story, and is annoyed by the junior high kids that hangout there.<br>Old Man - Rusty's father, no job, drinks all day, and relies on welfare. <br><strong>Alex </strong>- Rusty's roommate in the reformatory. </div>]]></description>
