Take for example the Salem Witch Trials, of Massachusetts between February 1692 and March 1963 200+ people were accused and killed for witchcraft, some being guilty and some being innocent. Most were burned at the stake, some were hung as well as other forms of death penalty. There wasn't much a trial, basically if somebody accused you of being a witch you died.

witchcraft basically is the practice and belief in magical skills. witchcraft can only be performed by certain individuals and social groups. witchcraft is part of a religion called Wicca. Wicca is a form of witchcraft called pagan witchcraft, it was formed in the 20th century, and it was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardener a former civil servant. most forms of witchcraft often involve other objects besides the magic creator. some people may argue and say that someone who purely uses themselves and pure energy to work may call themselves a witch, but that is your personal beliefs. witchcraft is still used in today's world and society.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchcraft
