It's the sequel to Scythe. It continues the story of Rowan and Citra. Rowan becomes Scythe Lucifer, hunting down Scythes that aren't gleaning ethically. Citra is now a junior Scythe in MidMerica. Citra and Scythe Curie's were about to be murdered but they were saved by a new character who was warned by the Thunderhead. This new character is Greyson. He was practically raised by the Thunderhead, with parents who abandoned him. The Thunderhead knows Citra is important and tells Greyson to warn them as the Thunderhead can't. As the book continues, many secrets about their parents are uncovered from secret affairs to confidential files in their underground lab. The Angel family undergoes many barriers as they find themselves when they realize that their family was giving them 🤬 and running a secret corporation underneath their Pharamacy company. The kids experience changes to their personalities when they withdraw from the physical and mental enhancing 🤬. This book was a 10/10 GREAT READ. I also used the audiobook on Youtube and listened while I worked out over the weekend. It's about a 12 year old girl who suddenly loses both her parents in a car accident. She is a genius and probably has OCD, but the story is about her dealing with loss. She finds a new support system in a Vietnamese family, a guidance counselor who hates and sucks at his job, and a distant social worker. It's reminiscent of The Hate U Give in that it has to do with a young black student who just got into Yale - it deals with racial equality and how people treat African Americans differently, despite feeling that equality has been reached. I was drawn into it and finished it in a few days...the trials the character has to go through are irritating and made me anxious.
