Kobe Bryant worked very hard at a young age trying to accomplish his dream of playing in the NBA one day (Labrecque). Born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kobe Bryant dreamed of being in the NBA at the age of three. Kobe’s dad, Joe Bryant, played for the Philadelphia 76ers. When Kobe was six, his dad changed their families lives. Kobe’s family did not know how to speak Italian at first but Kobe’s two older sisters, Sharia and Shaya taught each other Italian. By then, Kobe knew more Italian than American. Kobe’s talents showed right away. Kobe put the work in and got better and better every day. They eventually moved back to Philadelphia when Kobe was thirteen and kept working harder and harder every day until he was a senior in high school and decided to skip college and go right into the NBA. That is how Kobe Bryant worked very hard at a young age to accomplish his dream of playing in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant’s hard work has paid off leading to his rise of fame. Kobe Bryant got drafted to the Charlotte Hornets for the 13th pick of the draft. By then, he was the second youngest player coming right out of high school. Later in that season, Kobe got traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe played with Shaquel O’Neal who also signed with the Lakers out of the Orlando Magic. The Lakers were in the 1996-1997 season and made it into the playoffs vs the Utah Jazz. They lost because Kobe Bryant missed the game winning shot, causing the Lakers to be kicked out of the playoffs; thus, Kobe spent all of the off-season training. In Kobe's third season he started every game and was the second leading scorer behind Shaq. Kobe also became a great defensive player, studying his opponents moves and knowing what the player was going to do before they made their move. Because of his hard work, Kobe had his rise to fame.
