Being a mom of adult children, and desiring to maintain a great relationship caused my husband and I to deliberately choose to NOT give advice unless asked for it. Yet I love to share great resources, ideas, new learning with our kids. I think there is a bit of a similar dynamic with our families. We respect  IDEA parents, their choices, etc. and offer resources and options when they are interested in us doing so. I have heard that apathy, not hate, is the opposite of love and that rings true to me. Passion is the bedrock of a fully engaged life. Without that, there can be no true community. Accompanying each other on the journey is the road to engagement and community. We hunger for a sense of belonging.
