Each employee follows the onboarding, that contains a pre boarding programme, a company programme and a job programme. The process for this programme is the same for each employee, the outcome is different for each function. 1) What is your opinion about this? 2) Should we exclude employees? If so, who?

New employees work together on a project in a small project team. The result of this project creates direct value for the organization (e.g. for the business, customer and/or processes). 1) What should be the content/focus of the project? 2) Could/should we involve customers? 3) How should we organize the meetings (local, global, …)? Is it realistic that the business make resources available to facilitate this project?

It did not matter that we were in complete different departments, but it was just helpful in a social way. With phase of life I mean that a new employee with kids has different way of thinking than a student or somebody who's kids already left the house. It makes the informal talk more easy.
For the buddy the gain is to get to know somebody in a different department and get a better feeling about what they are doing.

The solution could be to have a list of projects that is reused every year, a bit like a case study. This way would have a measurable outcome and potential incremental improvement by solving a reoccurring problem.

75% seems fair but think the onboarding period of time may need to be different by role. Depends upon the complexity of the role. Time to competency/productivity is not only dependent upon the skills an employee initially brings to the role but also the availability of documentation and training and mentoring available for their position

Agree - important in the recruiting process and must carry through after being hired. When attracting and retaining great talent, it is very important to let them know up front what to expect as far as an onboarding process, and what is available to help them prepare and move to future opportunities for skill and career path and growth.

I agree. A rough estimate of what we will need to invest is important prior to making a decision about employing someone . That same information should be used as the role and employee specific onboarding plans are created.

I like the idea. New employees bring a fresh perspective and are eager to contribute. Keys to success of this type of initiative would include giving them an actual business problem we are facing to solve and the support of those who are accountable for fixing it to support and consider their ideas to remedy
