Before covid struck I had no clue what a pandemic was. I thought covid was overblown by the media to make us panic and that’s the whole thing was a joke. Then school ended, trios cancelled, and countries closed. The scariest part was fear if the end of the world. This was the stuff straight out of a movie. However I must admit if I survive this there will be pretty cool stories to tell. I wonder if future generations will see a time without masks as a distant point in our history. Maybe this is the start of the end of the world. Society is different now. More people are invoking social change. I hope that this pandemic will be the beginning to the end of global warming. Covid has allowed me to self reflect in my personal journey. I a, discovering more and more about myself with all this time at home. I think this pandemic can benefit children because of how tough it has made them. We have learned that in unity there is change even if that unity is 6 ft apart. I hope we are coming to theme of this. It was catastrophic for the country. And it shed light on a big problem. After he died protests and some riots started to happen all claiming the name BLM or Black Lives Matter. This movement caused uneasiness in certain people because of the riots. This caused a huge divide in the country. Not to mention the people who claimed Derek Chauvin was not racially motivated. To make things even worse, it was an election year. This means that matters of social justice became matters of politics power and leverage. The division in our country is what I believe has the power to tear the USA apart. It is not only black people it is every single group that has ever been oppressed protesting for equality. This was a year that wanted change. And America decided Joe Biden was the man to make that change. So far he has had millions vaccinated but there is still much work. I fear this will never end. If we are talking about all the events that happened since a year ago then we must start with my birth day which was right after lockdown started. My birthday was not like any other I had ever had before. This is because it was a caravan consisting of multiple cars lined up with friends wishing me happy birthday. It is also important to mention what I call the quarantine era. This is when I didn’t leave the house. I watched tons of Netflix and played tons of games. This era ended after I started going back to school. To get back on track after my birthday the school year ended. I traveled in car to Georgia and then for New Years I went to Nashville. They were both extremely long rides. I came into 2021 with high hopes and I’m kind of underwhelmed. It a lot of the same stuff. I did get to go on a plane though. Now I go to school where I am extremely stressed and bored. Very very bored. I have become a procrastinator over quarantine.
