Shunto and Chaeyoung

"Leibniz and Newton? Get lost!" - Mrs. Grace Shin

Mathematicians from the "Kerala School" in Medieval India from the 14th century (around 1350s) developed the "infinite series", a basic foothold component of modern calculus. Notable thinkers that developed this concept, namely Madhava and Nilakantha, is not credited at all for their discovery - it is the imperialist attitudes that are to blame for the suppressing of the true discovery behind calculus. It is also true that the medieval language (Kerala, Malayalam) and texts (Yuktibhasa) from which this discovery is recorded, but it is also true that non-European discoveries are often neglected - a legacy of the European colonialism that put these men's achievements to near ruin.
