It has types that live within the body already, however there are some forms which can cause great harm to those in high risk categories and even the average person. People most at risk are older (65+), younger (5 and below), and immune compromised individuals. These people usually are the only ones who need medical assistance. People outside these categories often recover on there own through most infections as long as they can stay hydrated. Infections are usually caused by contaminated food and water. It can be avoided by washing your hands and disinfecting surfaces well when cooking. Always be sure to cook your food, mainly beef, to appropriate temperatures. Symptoms of an infection include stomach cramps, diarrhea, and in some cases the patient will have bloody diarrhea.
