"Now it was again a green light on a dock. His count of enchanted objects had diminished by one." (pg. 93)

The green light on the doc of Daisy's mansion has always been important to him. It was as close Gatsby could get to Daisy, representing his desire for her. When he finally got her, that light began to fade. The light symbolized something he didn't have, and now he has it, it means nothing now.

The green light is on the dock of Daisy and Tom's mansion. Gatsby lives right across the bay from them, seeing the green light nightly. He would walk out on his dock nightly to reach for the green light he wishes to receive. The green light represents Daisy, and that was the most Gatsby could ever get of her.
While Gatsby got closer the Daisy, the green light began to disappear in Gatsby's eyes. The light became less important now that Daisy was actually there. It was said in the book that Gatsby's "enchanted objects had diminished by one" (93) and that the light seemed to touch Daisy, then vanish. It is mentioned that the fog was covering the light, but he had a hard time seeing it afterwards anyway.
-Jenelle

The green light shows the unattainablitity part of the American Dream. When we first hear/ see the green light it is a big, flashing light, just like the American Dream is to many people outside of the United States, it's flashy and everyone wants to have because it looks so amazing and attainable. The green light that Gatsby sees gets less and less bright the more that Gatsby and Daisy see eachother; this shows that even though Gatsby and Daisy are able to be with eachother, it won’t last long just like the American Dream.

The green light also shows the importance of time. Through out the whole book/movie we knew that if the light was showing then there was hope and time for Gatsby and Daisy to be together. Then when we saw/read that the light was fading we knew that their time was fading as well, we didn’t know why but we knew that Gatsby and Daisy didn’t have much time left. I believe that Gatsby knew this as well because he didn’t want to let go of her and if she started to slip away from him, he chased her until she was his again.
