Because of the discourse construction and the ideological stance represented in newspapers, Qi and Ye (2019) did a study on Western newspapers and Chinese newspapers on two different events, which are the Beijing and Barcelona terrorist attacks. It was reported by Qi and Ye (2019) that the US and the UK, trying to suppress the rise China's rise, using their news media to manipulate the readers to comprehend the ethnic conflict instead of terrorist attacks in China meanwhile referring to the same event in Barcelona as terrorist attack. The political oppression in this article is evident and it affects the media language in Western newspapers.

Tariq Elyas et al. (2022) used CDA to identify and analyze the headlines of the Western newspaper which is USA Today and the Saudi newspaper, Asharq Alawsat during the pandemic of Covid-19. This study serves the readers two different stances on the issue of Covid-19. USA Today influenced by US politics and ideology blamed China for the spread of the virus and also blamed Trump for not handling this pandemic efficiently and leaning more positively towards Joe Biden because of the upcoming election (Tariq Elyas et al., 2022). Meanwhile, Saudi newspapers, provide preventive measures to their citizen however, the political oppression obviously influenced the media language as the newspaper criticized Iran for the irresponsible act of spreading the virus and this is due to the unstable relationship between those two countries (Tariq Elyas et al., 2022).

Another important takeaway from Mullet (2018) are key principles and concepts of CDA which provide a better grasp of the approach.

The most important was understanding the topic properly because I could not find related and reliable materials when I did not understand the topic at first. I am glad I started this assignment early and had ample time and opportunity to ask the lecturer about this topic. I tried to use chat GPT and I have learned that the AI software cannot help me as it gave me generic answers even after I tried with another questions. After thinking about it, I realised that it is not that the software could not help me but maybe I did not type specific keywords or ask the right questions. My next step is learning how to use chat GPT efficiently as it will become a tool that will help me next time. Articles that I put in my Padlet had the study of media other than the English language. This is because I think it is good to see how political oppression not only happens in Western media but also offer different political oppression and ideology from other parts of the world. All in all, whilst working on this assignment I realised Padlet is an incredible website that can help me collect information, data, and resources and it is easy to navigate. I will consider using it for my research project and future assignments.
