Often times parents struggle to make it to the school physically due to mismatched schedules. Technology allows us to send a text, email, or direct message to the parent and they can respond at their earliest convince. This can also go in the other direction, and allows parents to contact the teacher without having to go through the maze of school systems.

Communication is important for many reasons. Communication can be used to share concerns, or proud moments. It can be used to make sure that everyone is "in the loop" or to let someone know that there will be an absence for the day. Along with that, children benefit highly from parents who are helping them and actively participating in school work with them. Communication allows the parents, students, and teachers to all be on the same page about expectations and assignments to give the students the highest success rate.

-How can we empower our students to communicate by creating?

By creating a positive classroom environment and teaching the students how to use tools to their advantage, will encourage them to use them to create. Teachers that provide a space for students to feel safe expressing themselves, will inevitably have students who do just that, who will express themselves. By using technology, the students are able to do this at home, or in the classroom, and may even have the option of doing it anonymously.

It is important to communicate to make sure both parties are on the same page and can understand what the student needs at home as well as in the classroom.

Students can learn that they can have fun while communicating. Different platforms allow them to create updates and share with their parents.

Meeting in person first before trying to communicate through technology is a good way to fully understand the family. Let the parents talk about how their home life is( how many kids, work, etc.) This will create trust between the parents and teacher.
