Researcher G. William Domhoff suggests that dreams really don't have a meaning to us, his exact words "dreams most likely serve no real purpose". Though having a deeper understanding of what the dreams show can result in a connection to a real meaning. By breaking down a person's dream, we can interpret what is on their minds and with enough samples, it "gives us a very good psychological portrait of that individual".

1.) Researcher G. William Domhoff suggests that "dreams can be mysterious" and " can shift suddenly, feature bizarre elements, or frighten us with terrifying imagery." and that is why people believe there must be meaning to our dreams. The meaning can be so important that "75 to 100 dreams from a person give us a very good psychological portrait of that individual." and how "they are very 'revealing' of what is on our minds".
2.) a. Condensation- Many different ideas and concepts are represented within the span of a single dream. information is condensed into a single thought or image.
b. Displacement- This element of dream work disguises the emotional meaning of the latent content by confusing the important and insignificant parts of the dream.
c. Symbolization- This operation also censors the repressed ideas contained in the dream by including objects that are meant to symbolize the latent content of the dream.
d. Secondary Revision- During the final stage of the dreaming process, Freud suggested that the bizarre elements of the dream are reorganized in order to make the dream comprehensible, thus generating the manifest content of the dream.
3.) Calvin S. Hall's theory of dreams is how they "are part of a cognitive process in which dreams serve as 'conceptions' of elements of our personal lives. To interpret dreams you must know the following four things; "The actions of the dreamer within the dream, the objects and figures in the dream, the interactions between the dreamer and the characters in the dream, the dream's setting transitions and outcome."

Researcher G. William Domhoff states that dreams have no real meaning and they are there to fulfill your wishes. Condensations means many different ideas and concepts are represented within the span of a single dream, information is condensed into a single thought or image. Displacement is the element of dream work that disguises the emotional meaning of the latent content by confusing the important and insignificant parts of the dream. Symbolization censors the repressed ideas contained in the dream by including objects meant to symbolize the latent content of the dream. Secondary revision is the final stage in the process. The bizarre elements of the dream are reorganized in order to make the dream comprehensible, thus generating the manifest content of the dream. Calvin S. Hall says that dreams are part of the cognitive process, and he says dreams are just concepts of our own lives. The four things you must know are the actions of the dreamer within the dream, the objects and figures in the dream, the interactions between the dreamer and the characters in the dream, and the setting and outcome of the dream.

Researcher G. William Domhoff suggests that the meaning and interpretation of dreams are showing us who we are. That they are meant to show how we are each individual and have different thoughts, although he suggests that dreams have no real meaning, they can be interpreted different depending on the person. Condensation is the amount of different ideas or thoughts presented in the span of one singular dream. Displacement is the part that disguises the dream and blends the important aspects and the insignificant aspects together so there is a hidden meaning. Symbolization is the part of the dream that can represent something else and have a hidden meaning inside of the dream. Secondary revision is the end of the dream when things come to context and make the dream understandable. Calvin S. Hall proposed the idea that dreams are apart of a process that represent things going on in our personal life. The four things that he says are a must for dream interpretation are the actions of the dreamer, the objects and the figures in the dream, the interactions that the dreamer has within the dream, and finally the dreams setting, transitions, and resolution.

According to researcher G. William Domhoff dreams have no real purpose but dreams do have meaning because "meaning has to do with coherence and with systematic relations to other variables..." Also he believes that we could "individualize" someones mind (like a fingerprint) if we tracked 1000s of dreams over a few decades. In addition Domhoff suggests the process of dreaming is a result of "neurological processes and a system of schemas."
The term condensation is many different ideas and concepts are represnted within the span of a single dream.
The term displacement is an element of dream work that disguises the emotional meaning of the latent content by confusing the important and insignificant parts of the dream.
The term symbolization is an operation that also censors the repressed ideas contained in the dream by including objects that are meant to symbolize the latent content of the dream.
The term secondary revision takes place during the final stage of the dreaming process. Hall's dream theory states that dreams are part of a cognitive process in which dreams serve as "conceptions" of elements of our personal lives.
