being willing to step out of your comfort zone and put forth effort results in greater opportunity and a more fruitful life.

1) People are lazy and unwilling to try new things.

2) The guy who climbs the mountain represents someone who steps out of their comfort zone and is enlightened of all the possibilities as a result. The people who stayed in the desert are unwilling to put forth effort and are therefore naive and complacent. They don't know there is more opportunity and they are unwilling to search for it.

3) Because their view is blocked by the mountain, people have a limited and overly-comfortable scope of the world. They believe the desert is all that's available or needed. The little pond represents limits in knowledge, opportunity and resources. The mountain represents the chains- it is holding them back from discovering full reality. Paradise on the other side represents the abundance of opportunity and knowledge once you overcome obstacles and step outside your comfort zone.

4)The shadows are represented by how the desert society views life. They believe the desert is the only thing in life. Their complacency and comfort keeps them satisfied because they don't there is more out there. They think that's all there is because they are unwilling to try anything else.

5) One guy climbs the mountain, stepping out of his comfort zone and hungry for more. He is rewarded by experiencing full reality.

6) In the tropical area, the brave man experiences the abundance and enjoyment of the full reality. He discovers there's more than he believed and a better life.

7)When he comes back to share with his society they didn't believe him they are unwilling to discover for themselves. They think he's crazy and continue in their provincial life. The process of climbing the mountain was strenuous.

8) In the dialogue the escaped captive comes to explain his treacherous journey to the captives. He explains that it was hard but definitely worthwhile. The captives don't believe him and want to stay in their lazy and comfortable life.

9)As perceived by the captives (The people in the desert) life is mundane and limited. As perceived by the liberated captive, a life outside of your comfort zone is filled with abundance and opportunity, even though it takes overcoming struggle. Overall, you must go through struggle and take risks to experience opportunity

and a fullness of life.

10)The man who experienced the paradise understand the fulfillment that comes with completing hard tasks to experience new things. The sheltered society can't understand the full possibility of life until they put forth effort and experience it first hand.

We both contributed to the planning, writing and illustration of our allegory equally. We worked together through the whole process.

While people try to find fulfillment in the things of this world, you can only find true happiness in your relationship with Christ.

Symbolism:

The shadows on the cave wall is the party. While partying may give people a temporary high, or give them a "fun" experience, those things do not equate to true fulfillment. Partying tricks individuals' senses and emotions to make them think they are fulfilled, but it is not true fulfillment.

The cave is the sorority house where the partying frequently happens. There is constant partying and things that one can rely on for fulfillment. This keeps individuals from searching for real truth because they are constantly being bombarded with other ways to find happiness. The cave confines them to one lifestyle and keeps them from ever leaving and discovering truth.

The chains are the societal expectations that partying, and living the “college experience” are the means by which happiness is achieved. The “prisoners” are the girls in the sorority who have been enslaved by that lie.

The sunlight outside of the cave is The Gospel. The Gospel represents the sunlight outside the cave because it shows that true happiness can only be found in Christ. When someone experiences the Gospel, they realize that the things of this world will not give them eternal satisfaction because that is something only Christ can provide. It sheds light on the lies that true satisfaction can be found in partying, like the girls within the cave (the sorority) are believing.

You start to notice the journey of liberation when someone comes out of the cave, and into the reality of the Gospel, They come face to face with a higher power, who is God. They realize that partying is merely chasing after a temporary high, and that it will never truly satisfy them. They gain freedom because they can simply embrace God’s love and a relationship with Him, rather than being bound by the lies of the cave. They no longer have to play off of their emotions to find satisfaction by using other people and substances to fulfill them. They can now rest in the truth of God which is real and objective rather than relying on the subjective feelings of relationships and substances.

Return to the cave: After receiving and understanding the power of the Gospel, one has to return to the cave (the sorority house) and explain what they have discovered. That discovery is the true fulfillment that they have found in Christ. Unfortunately, the others haven’t come face to face with the truth of God and experienced enlightenment. Therefore, they have no desire to change the way their way of living. They don’t understand that true fulfillment can be found in Christ because they are still bound by the chains of pleasure.

Allegory as a whole: While people try to find fulfillment in the things of the world, true fulfillment can only be found in a relationship with Christ. Society tends to glorify things like partying, and this leads people into thinking that doing so will satisfy them. However, once a person fully experiences the Gospel they will learn that they can only be truly satisfied when their identity is found in Christ.

Allegorical elements and modern day conception:

Identify Modern Themes: In our modern day culture people are constantly looking for pleasure to fulfill them. While this can take many different forms our allegory explores the idea of college students looking to partying to fulfill them. In the current day and age, social media promotes the idea that college students should party, and seek after the “college experience.” A sorority house also furthers that idea, because sororities often encourage the girls to participate in parties.

Create Characters: The college freshman is the main character who goes along with the social norm that is associated with the stereotypical college experience, rather than stepping out of her comfort zone in order to develop a relationship with Christ that could bring her ultimate fulfillment rather than temporary fulfillment.

The sorority girls represent the lifestyle that college students, (such as the main character), strive to experience in order to find satisfaction. Although this lifestyle may seem appealing to most, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the most healthy and Christian like lifestyle to live.

The joyful girl is a Christian that encouraged the college freshman to attend church. By attending church, the college freshman assumed that she could find fulfillment in the corrupt activities that were encouraged in the general college community. She ultimately represents the step towards the light when the college freshman was surrounded by darkness.

The pastor at the church is presenting the Gospel, which is when the college freshman hears the Gospel for the first time and then becomes enlightened.

Craft the Setting: The sorority house has a negative influence on the main character because it represents all of the temptations that are viewed as what you need to experience in order to be satisfied. The house contains all sorts of poor influences that can pull someone more towards the darkness rather than to the light.

The church is where she finds enlightenment because The Gospel introduces a different perspective. The world is pushing her to live a lifestyle in alignment with what people perceive to be the “college experience.” Ultimately, she will not find complete satisfaction in worldly things because our world is captivated by sin. Hearing the Gospel makes the main character realize all of these things, and she has a heart change as a result.

Define Shadows and Reality: Things like partying and living for the world are often glorified in society, and this leads people into thinking that doing these things will satisfy them in the end. Partying and living for the world distracts us from the hope of the Gospel because it keeps us living in the world. In reality, Christ is the only one who can fulfill us, so we need to live our lives for Him.

Introduce Liberation: A person can experience liberation after seeing and hearing about the power of the Gospel. Once they have heard the Gospel, they will realize that even though the world will not fully satisfy them, they can be fulfilled through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Essentially, experiencing Christ’s love will show them that there is so much more to life than the things of this world.

Explore Enlightenment: The main character, (the freshman college student), was trying so hard to find fulfillment in the worldly things. But then, she was invited to church, and realized that she could find fulfillment in building a relationship with Christ that she could cling to for eternity. When she had heard the Gospel for the first time, she was in awe. After experiencing and accepting the Gospel, she felt a new sense of purpose for life. She realized that everything she had been doing in the world was not going to fulfill her, and was excited to live a new life with the hope of Christ.

Address Resistance: Even after hearing the Gospel, the person may like the idea of partying and living for the things of the world. Because the person had been living for the things of this world for so long, they may struggle to leave those things behind. They may also feel pressure to continue living for the things of this world because they had been doing it for so long. They will need to learn to let go of their past and ask God for forgiveness so that they can fully experience the hope of the gospel.

Incorporate Dialogue: The first conversation between the joyful girl, and the college freshman, shows the worldviews of both girls. The dialogue of the joyful girl shows that even though she does not participate in partying, she is still extremely satisfied in her life. The internal dialogue of the college freshman shows her skepticism that an individual could be fulfilled, yet not participating in partying. She also wondered what an individual would do with their time if they weren’t partying.

The dialogue from the Pastor explained the basic facts of the Gospel. This dialogue represents the Christian perspective. He shares that true fulfillment is found in the person of Jesus, not in pursuing other endeavors. In addition, he made the point that even if an individual has never accepted Jesus, they can do so by repenting and seeking a relationship with him.

The dialogue between the college freshman and the sorority girls shows two different perspectives. The college freshman showed the Christian perspective. She desperately wanted to share the joy that she had found with her friends, but they did not want to believe what she told them. They did not understand the importance of pursuing a relationship with Jesus, when they saw partying as a way to find satisfaction.

The internal dialogue of the college freshman at the end of the story shows personal growth. She realizes that even though she gained a new understanding of how to find satisfaction, she can’t force other people to want the same thing. However, that was not going to stop her from trying, because she wants other people to find the same happiness that she found in Christ.

Explain the truths: Captives

The captives unfortunately were not able to understand the objective truths that the liberated captive was trying to explain to them because they hadn’t been enlightened. They were very focused on their own subjective “truths”, and this kept them from hearing the real Truth. After being immersed in the party culture of society for so long they were unable to understand anything other than their own truth. Despite the liberated captive desperately trying to explain objective truth they were in awe of partying because of the short term satisfaction it gave them. Because the captives hadn’t yet been enlightened by the gospel, they viewed the objective truths as restricting and harsh. They didn’t understand why anyone would want to leave this “amazing” life of partying and living for the world. Instead of accepting the objective truths of the gospel they continued to blindly follow the subjective truths that made them feel a short term feeling of satisfaction.

Liberated captive

Even though the liberated captive originally held to subjective truths like the rest of the captives, she took the leap to leave the sorority house and discovered the gospel. After being confronted with the Truth of the gospel, she realized how meaningless her life had been, and that she had been finding her identity in worldly things, like partying. Fortunately after hearing the gospel and becoming enlightened she was determined to change her lifestyle and find fulfillment in God. She embraced objective truth and realized how much more fulfilling it was to place her identity in a loving God rather than her own subjective truth that left her feeling empty.

Overall truth of the allegory

The overall truth of the allegory is that God is the only thing that can bring us true fulfillment; therefore, He is the only one who we should put our identity in. This is because putting our identity in anything else is only going to distract us from God, who is the one we need to trust and make the priority.

Conclude with Reflection: After hearing the gospel she was finally able to understand why she had felt empty for her whole life. Even before college she had felt unfulfilled; however, the partying had distracted her from this feeling. She realized that the reason she had loved partying so much was because it distracted her from the fact that she felt empty. Now that she had grasped the gospel, her main goal in life had become to share it. While she was greatly disappointed that her friends hadn’t accepted the gospel, she knew that it would take some time. They hadn’t had the experience with the gospel that she had, and therefore they didn’t understand why they would leave a life of partying. This was exactly how she had felt, so she was determined that she could convince the others with time. They just needed to come face to face with the objective truths of the gospel just like she had.

2) The “Modern Life Cycle” allegory is our group's social commentary on how today’s culture, accidentally or intentionally, reduces people into roles that do not align with the individual’s passion.

3)

1. Identify Modern Themes: The government is capable of defining peoples’ realities, until they don’t know what is really true and what is just a shadow of the real thing. In our allegory, the example is the projector slide, depicting a life that our character is expected to follow. Graduate, go into this or that field of work, and make money.

2. Create Characters: The main character is a boy in a classroom, since classrooms and schools are a huge part of the government’s influence on children. Uncle Sam is the one running the projector, and he’s a pretty obvious representation of the government itself. The boy’s classmates are other people in the same position as the main character, so they can represent other children in the school system.

3. Craft the Setting: The setting is the classroom in the middle of a field. The classroom itself is dark, dreary, and colorless, while the field outside is sunny and colorful. The setting highlights the contrasting conditions between the two areas, since the classroom represents the shadows of reality while the outside represents the wonder of reality.

4. Define Shadows and Reality: The projector slide represents the government’s and society’s efforts to lead the character’s life in a way that leaves him no outside freedoms and opportunities. He believes that all there is to life is graduating, getting a job, and making money.

5. Introduce Liberation: The boy escapes the classroom and experiences the field outside, where everything is in color instead of the dark and dreary classroom.

6. Explore Enlightenment: The character realizes that there is so much more to life than he originally thought. Everything is much more vivid than his previous reality, and there’s so much open space and opportunities in life than the precut path that he was taught before.

7. Address Resistance: The other people in the classroom want to stay in the safety of their classroom and projector. They don’t want to risk failure through risks and other opportunities, and would rather walk the well-beaten path of graduation-job-money.

8. Incorporate Dialogue: Summary of dialogue: the boy goes back into the classroom, bringing pieces of grass and other items from outside. He explains to his classmates how there is so much more to life than sitting in front of a projector screen; there’s color and space and opportunities everywhere. He gives them the things from outside and asks them to come with him, but they are resistant at first. However, with some persuading and with the colorful things from outside, they follow him and leave Uncle Sam by himself with the projector.

9. Explain the truths: Captives: all there is to life is work. There is nothing else, and my life is all but already decided. I don’t have personal freedom when it comes to decisions and my future.

Liberated: life is so much more than sitting in a classroom for the rest of your life. There is a lot of space outside, and life is much more vivid than what the captives perceive in their unknowing state.

Overall truth: Society and the government have the capability of defining the course of your life, or at least how they want your life to go. However, life is not defined by these perspectives, and life can be lived out in any way imaginable.

10. Conclude with Reflection: The main character and his classmates are outside in the field, basking in the sun and freedom. They now know what it is really like to live life, and they now know how they can take their life in any way they want to; not defined by anyone else.

4)

Drawing: Gannon and Abram

Padlet: Everyone

Presenting: Abram and Gannon

Story/Paper: Silas

Today people are ultimately self-serving, seeking their own joy and holding themselves the most important, but this doesn’t offer them any true joy, it is only through faith in God that one can find fulfillment and pure contentment.

Identify Modern Themes: We wanted to explore the idea of pleasure in our society. How often people chase pleasure as there is a nihilistic air behind our actions. It has become normalized in our society to never feel a moment of not pure elation. This is why party culture has become so prevalent, doing whatever makes someone happy. People hold very little after thought to the impact of their decision on themselves, only seeing the moment, and living in the moment. People have devoted their lives to service of their own happiness, often today amongst the youth it is not even ambition, status, or even glory that drives a person, rather it is being as happy, comfortable, and content with oneself as they can be. In current literature and movies a character is regarded as weird or socially inept if they don’t like to party, or have never engaged in some form of substance use. This stems from the fact that people see no reason to live beyond their own pleasure. They have had hedonism their god.

Create Characters: We have three characters, they are all addicted to a different type of substance. In and out of rehab with little difference in their behaviors. The substance serves as an escape from the hardship of life, becoming a shortcut to happiness. Eventually they come to live for that feeling. It is the thing that chases in life with desperation, it has become a defining part of themselves.

Craft the Setting: There are a variety of settings, the club serves as the cave, the light the rehab center, and the hospital is the failing of trusting in the truth. The club is a place where all their inhibitions are lost. They can do whatever in that moment to fulfill their yearning desire for pleasure and happiness. They come back every night, living in the real world everyday, yet daily making the decision that the club offers a better existence for them than the grand reality of life outside the club does.

Define Shadows and Reality: The shadows are the pleasure and purpose that the substances imbue a person with. They also serve as the chains, keeping the people held captives. It recreated their idea of joy and happiness as it dictates it. It creates a false reality where the deadly danger of a pill becomes the life giving happiness of sharing a meal with your family. The emotions produced by the substance are wisps of emotion. The reality can be seen when one of them goes to rehab and learns about a greater purpose outside herself. A purpose to God and living his world. It gives her more content and joy than the substances ever gave her. She releases that she had been living a lie, and all those years she thought she had been living her best, happiest life, she was in reality miserable, suffering, and dying from the very thing that she believed to be giving her life.

Introduce Liberation: Liberation is offered multiple times in the rehab facility, yet time and time again they choose to ignore the light and return to the darkness of the club, until eventually one of the characters realizes the light that the rehab center is offering.

Explore Enlightenment: She realizes that she has been living life for the pursuit of her own joy. When she comes to know God, and recognize a higher power above her that is loving, she is filled with a contentment and joy that can never compare to the elation that she had felt from the substances. She realizes that the things she was trusting as fulfilling her purpose in her life were destroying her life, and that God is offering her true life.

Address Resistance: What she has discovered goes against what society tells, it is not living for yourself, but loving for something else. Her friends that she had spent years partying with may now find her intolerant, boring, and self-righteous. Her life purpose now goes against what society believes it should be, she claims that people have a responsibility in life that there is definitive right and wrong. But her friends ignore what she says because they don’t understand how living for anything but themselves can bring happiness in life, even though they live in a constant state of misery.

The girl who found God tries to communicate with her friends the joy and happiness that she has found, happiness that lasts. Her friends don’t understand what she is talking about. She points out their hedonism, how it is affecting their life. They become defensive and talk about how happy they are in the club, and that it is that happiness that they live for. The girl tries to explain God to them, but they shut her down and reject what she is saying. They walk away, tripping over a curve and are rushed to a hospital where they die.

Explain the truths: The truth perceived by the captives is that they have nothing to live for beyond their own pleasure, and as such they should pursue by any means anything that gives them happiness, even if only for a moment. They hold at the center of their belief themselves, that they are servants to themselves, and that beyond the truth that they create for themselves there is no truth. The liberated person perceives their life in a greater perspective, acknowledging God, and his sovereignty. They seek joy in their life through following God, and at the center of their world view is God, and his word. They experience the world not to be happy, but they aim to experience the world in submission to God. That living in submission to God brings contentment and joy into a person's life.

Conclude with Reflection: The two other characters die, and will be met with judgment for refusing to see the truth of the world, choosing to follow their own ideas and whims because they thought that would bring them the greatest amount of happiness. They will finally understand that they brought more pain on themselves then they created joy for themselves. The girl that was saved will reflect on what happened to her beloved friends, and I do believe will go back to the grave but with the intent of bringing the light in with her. She will probably encounter a hard time in society, maybe even being hated for her faith, but she will live gladly knowing that she has found the light. Wanting nothing more that to share it with others so that they too may be saved from the darkness.

Sydney - Drew Picture

Jasmine - Colored Picture

Dahlton - Wrote

All Three presenting

My idea is that women are willing to turn away from what now is the normal that is expected of them (modern-day feminism), and instead embrace being a woman, embracing what God has put them on this earth for.

Modern themes in this allegory are mainly feminism, abortion, and transgenderism. I was thinking about what to do for this project and this is what popped into my head about how movements like feminism, abortion, and transgenderism affect women as a whole on a negative level, and just how controversial these ideas are.

For my characters three young women are each in their own "room" The room represents their lives. One is a young woman questioning her gender, another is a woman who is pregnant, and another is a woman in her office, wishing to be with her family. These ideologies of feminism, abortion, and transgenderism are seeping into their minds through the cracks on their door, feeding into their lives. In the end, the women shut their door, and are now embracing things God has for them, the first woman, accepts being a woman. The other has her child and is playing with her. The other is reunited with her husband and spends time with him.

My setting is in a building almost. There are 6 doors, on the left are the three rooms with the door cracked showing the women's lives, this is in black and white. On the right, the doors are shut and the women are now living very different lives in color. In the middle are people marching down the hallway shouting ideas that are supporting feminism, abortion, and LGBTQ+ rights.

For my shadows, I decided to make them the marching crowd in the hallway. These people are spreading the lies that are told to women, that this will make them a better woman, such as killing their baby, constantly being the breadwinner, or even not evening being a woman at all.

The way the characters are introduced to liberation is they each encounter God, and they end up shutting their doors to the crowd, and instead listening to God's commandment for them, (the sun is represented for God, shining over their life).

The revelations each other and the characters have is the first one understands what it is like being a woman, and she is happy with herself. The other understands how important motherhood was for her and she has her daughter to be with her now. And finally, the CEO woman has rebuilt her marriage by taking a step back in her company, to focus on her marriage.

The resistance the characters face is the crowd(shadows) constantly screaming at them, telling them what they're doing is wrong, and they are shouting through their doors.

The woman sat in silence as the doctor told her she was pregnant. She was scared to death, her doctor gave her the option of abortion. She walks out of the clinic, thinking about her options, she walks past a marching crowd screaming "My body, My Choice" She is scared to death with the decision she has to make. She looks up at the sun and prays, she calls out to God looking for answers, He responds to His child with, made in God's image. she decides to keep her child, shutting the door to the crowd and going back to the clinic for prenatal care, and help for single mothers, fast forward about 2 years later she is playing with her daughter under the sun.

The truth that is received by my characters is that God has so much more for them as daughters of the King. What the world defines a woman as does not make a woman, only his word defines us. Each woman finds God and understands who they are as His daughter, and what they should be doing with their life.

As I was writing this I couldn't help but think just how many women are influenced by things they see on tictok about woman rights or abortion and how warped their view of womanhood is by the same people who believe that you can kill a human. That you can change your gender, and how you can give up family and friends for a job because it makes you empowered. These ideas seem so selfish to me because it's about you. You killing your child because you're not ready, or you destroying your marriage because you want to be a CEO is selfish To not know what God calls us for as His daughters causes distress in us.

I did everything solo :)

1) Modern Theme: Our modern theme seeks to address the flaws in the communist government. It shows how communism limits the lives and minds of the people under it.

2) Character: Our main character was a common man under the communist regime in North Korea. He represented the entire population along with their hopes and fears. 2 other characters would be the government and the our main characters fellow citizens.

3) The Setting: The setting we chose was North Korea because it is a modern day communist government. Our setting is what limited our characters knowledge and actions which correlated to the cave and chains in Plato's Allegory.

4) Shadows and reality: The shadows in Plato's Allegory are represented in ours by the propaganda and limited freedoms under a communist government. The government censors the information and freedoms given to their citizens as well as their actions. This projects to the citizens a shadowy unclear view of reality. Often times they are given the message the government wants them to get rather than the stark truth of reality.

5) Introduce Liberation + 6) Explore enlightenment + 7) Resistance: The Main character in our story is given the opportunity to go to America where he sees what a free society looks like. He realizes that a free society leads to a more content and prosperous society. Because there is almost no legal way to leave North Korea permanently, our main character comes back excited to tell his fellow citizens of the changes they could make to their government. However, because the people have lived so long under the communist regime, they are afraid of what will happen if they champion for change. They are afraid of what the government will do to them because often communist governments limit speech that make the government look bad. Because of this, our main character's fellow citizens refuse to be enlightened or make a change to make their lives better.

9) Truth perceived by captives: the communist government and economy are the only ones that they have ever known. So they are content to stay under the communism's limited freedom.

Truth perceived by the Liberated: There is a different reality that what the communist government is trying to project. A free society leads to a more prosperous, content, and advanced society. In other words, you cannot always trust whatever is being fed to you.

Over all truth: Change is hard and often times scary. Many people are not willing to go through the hardship of change which leads to a better life. People need to be given free will as well as well as access to knowledge to be able to create a productive, content, and prosperous society.

10) Implementing the ideas presented by the main character would lead to a hard fought battle against a powerful government. It is likely that the consequences of this fight would be painful and loss of life would be expected. However, they main character realizes that the pain is worth the freedom and prosperity gained for future generations. The general public, on the other hand, is too afraid to make the change.

11) Dialog: The people are too afraid to step beyond what they know.

Responsibilities

Eva: Explained 4 aspects of the allegory, Wrote out Allegory, did the padlet

Jenna: Explained 4 aspects of the allegory, wrote the Dialog, and wrote the reflection.

Today people take everything online as reality and allow this to affect their mental health and self-esteem.

1.) Modern Themes: Our modern theme was social media and how it allows people to present themselves in any way that they want.

2.) There are two characters in ours. One is the consumer of social media who sees all the perfection on social media and compares themselves to that. The other is the influencer that posts edited and photoshopped images of them to show their life with all of the blemishes and imperfections removed.

3.) Our allegory takes place in the life of a teenager she is at home consuming content and then goes to school comparing herself to the images she saw and the other girls around her.

4.) The shadows were the pictures online that our character recognized as reality. The reality is that the influencers can make themselves look anyway in which they like. Another shadow that presents itself is the idea that girls should be expected to look like the influencers look all the time.

5.)The liberation is when our consumer sees the influencer out in public and she doesn't look like the pictures that she posted online. Our character realizes that it is unrealistic to be perfect and at your best all of the time.

6.) After enlightenment our character realizes that the standards social media sets are unrealistic and she is beautiful in her way. There is no way to FaceTune in real life and the influencers look way different in person than they do on their profiles.

7.) The resistance she might face is judgment. People will continue to judge and compare her even if in her mind she understands the pressures that society adds are unrealistic. Even if she is enlightened the people around her are still devoured by a society that expects perfection and she could face a lot of cruelty for not abiding by that.

8.) Our dialogue is about how our liberated captive talking to her friends about the tricks that social media presents to its consumers. She talks about how she used to compare herself to the models online but then she saw the influencer in person and realized how fake everything is. She finally changed her mindset from comparison to contentment which has really helped her mentally.

9.) The truth for the captive is that there are people in the world who look like models 24/7. They have perfect skin, perfect hair, and perfect bodies.

The truth for our liberated captive is that people want to look like they have the ideal everything: The ideal life, ideal friends, and ideal body. The truth is that everyone has their own lives and none of them are perfect. Everybody struggles in life whether they post it online or not and it is not realistic to compare yourself to these perfect things online when you are only perceiving one very very small portion of their lives. Social media is deceiving because consumers act as if they know the influencers that they follow and look up to but the truth is that these people are very meticulous with what they show to the world and they have literal teams behind them helping them curate the perfect persona for the world to follow.

10.) After the enlightenment our individual has a new mindset. They are under the complete understanding that social media and reality are two separate realms. Comparing anything between the two only creates problems for our individual's mental health and benefits the influencer. Our individual now talks to her friends about how she knows the life an influencer reflects online and their real life don't line up with each other so there is no reason to stress over a perfect look to meeting society's standard of beauty. If this revelation truly got out to the world social media would collapse. It would once again be used to connect people instead of creating falsehoods for young girls to look up to and spend their whole lives pursuing. I think mental health would improve significantly and we would be happier as a society because everyone is not coveting what others have in this world.

Annie - helped draw the picture, and helped with the dialogue

Audrey - helped draw our picture and helped with the dialogue

Sarah - Padlet
