Hammurabi made the laws to where people were treated equally and people with little political power still had the same laws. His punishments were pretty harsh but they allowed everyone to equal rights with the law "Eye for an eye" and "tooth for tooth".This means that if a doctor accidentally cut someones hand the doctor will have his finger chopped off as a show of equality.

After Hammurabi's death he made sure to keep the Pole of laws so that people would not forget about how things were done and to show how his laws made an impact on the people of Mesopotamia.Hammurabi cared about his people and so that's why he made the decision to keep the laws and so that people would not cross a line and go crazy.

This shows that if people were caught stealing they would be put to death and people who did not show respect to others property would have to pay a fine. This also suggests that he had equal rights for people her broke the laws or committed a crime. In the article "Government" it says that if it kill a slave of the owner, then he shall pay salve for slave.” Basically saying that people should pay for what they've done to hurt people.

This shows that laws were about justice, property , trade, family and health.People that caused harm would be punished by go back and fixing the harm they brought up on people.Even tho most things were perfectly fine and fair some things still weren't. Like if a rich person hurt a enslaved person they would get a fine but if enslaved people hurt a rich man there hands or fingers would be chopped off.

Government is a big part of building a civilization due to having to follow rules of a person or people. This is key cause people were able to benefit from having laws and having government by having a safe environment and being able to walk around freely without people causing harm in the city with the laws but if harm was ever brought up on some one they would have consequences.

In my opinion, the Government is the most influential to Mesopotamia.

Government impacted Mesopotamia society by keeping everyone in line and giving jobs out. Also another reason is because it allowed people to have rights while also these people are not going crazy. This is very Important to creating a civilization because there has to be someone that is the head of everything so that people will be able to work together.
