Most teen pregnancies are unintentional in the U.S. The mother is less likely to finish high school and their children might also have the same symptoms they have. The government is also effected by this because they have to pay for medical, food stamps and other things. Usually the amount of money they use a year is around 9 Billion. In the 1990s the teenage pregnancy was a high rate but now it has declined by a lot. Southern states are more likely to hold policies that require abstinence only education, and to accept the title v federal funding for this education. Teen pregnancies are often in contact with guys over the age of 25. African and Latino race are usually at a high risk of teen pregnancy and rape. Most schools should teach their students about safe sex education rather than just telling students not to have sex at all.

What it was saying in the article was the high rates of teen pregnancies and how the state can help prevent this. By giving kids the sex education they need so that next time they enter a relationship they'll know what to do. Also to let kids know that being with someone over the age of 18 is rape. And that kids should be with people in their age group.
