         <description><![CDATA[<div>Canadians have contributed a fair amount towards the efforts in space, and the exploration of the solar system. Launched in the summer of 2003, the completly built in Canada MOST artificial satellite was launched into an 800km orbit above the surface of the Earth. Weighing in around 60kg, MOST is the size of a suitcase, a relatively small size in comparision to any other satellite in its time, and it will begin to make history just shortly after launch.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>MOST, sponsored by the CSA, is a mission that was spearheaded by The University of British Columbia's prof. Jaymie Matthews to observe the activity of 10 stars at first. It is a suitcase sized satellite, with a telescope 10x more sensitive than the HUBBLE and is just the size of a pie plate.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Over the years MOST has made some major discoveries. To highlight a couple,&nbsp;<br>- One of the stars it was sent to observe, Procycon, was found to not be oscilllating at all, unlike the results recieved from ground based telescopes.&nbsp;<br>- The discovery of an exoplanet in the Canceri system, 55 Canceri e&nbsp;<br>- The existance of a "scorching hot super-Earth" orbiting a close star<br>It discovered a new type of supergiant, one known as a pulsating Type-B supergiant.</div>]]></description>

         <title>The Science Behind MOST</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>How does MOST conduct science? Well, it measures the oscillations in the light intensity of stars through a telescope 10x as sensitve as the HUBBLE telescope to determine the age, composition, temperature, and pressures inside distant stars. It does this by looking at the speed, and change of soundwaves emitted by certain stars, and looking at the percent composition of the stars as well.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The MOST is capable of measuring the oscillation intensities of stars because it can observe an object for around 7 weeks. This is what lead to the Procycon star's discovery of actually not oscillating, which is said otherwise from ground telescopes. After the data has been collected it downlinks to either the UBC or U of Toronto's ground stations.&nbsp;<br><br>MOST was also the only satellite like it that could identify planets orbiting other stars. It can do this as it is one of the only earth and space-based telescopes that can detect the reflection of stars light off planets.&nbsp;<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due to budget cuts the MOST was advised for retirement. However as of 2016 the satellite is still operational, and was a stepping stone towards the Kepler and CORAT missions as it was the first telescope to be designed for asteroseismology.</div>]]></description>
