After examining the issues surrounding the Mars One Project, I have been convinced that placing a human settlement on Mars is a good idea. I support my position because it can further advance human technology. In the Scope article “ Would You Move to Mars,” the author emphasizes that the work put into the mission can lead to innovations in food production,, medicine, solar energy, recycling and many other fields as well. This research clearly suggests that moving to Mars will help the human race evolve . However, my opponents may claim that it would take from America’s funds where we could spend it on education, or trying to pay back our national debt, which is $18 trillion , but have they considered the idea that as our humanity evolves on Mars, could lead to new materials and medicine that we could trade for money down in Earth and eventually help us solve our financial problems? Or the fact that the USA, Italy, United Kingdoms, and Canada are all working together in this project, let alone supporting the project with their own budgets combines as well as the Mars One website explained. As for that, we don’t need to worry much about the financial issues that much since the money budget for the Mars One project has been well taken care of , leaving with with still enough money that we can pay off our debt and support our education. For these reasons, I maintain my position that placing a human settlement on Mars is a good idea.
