On 17 November 2025, Latvians carried out an 8-hour training programme for 14 young people at the Valmiera Youth House, using the knowledge and methods gained during the international training.
Boost in Action: Workshop on Emotions and Feelings with Young people in Latvia

Workshop for young people aged 15–18 (8 participants)

On 14 November, Mārīte met with a group of young people from her charity organisation “palīdzēsim.lv” for an ERASMUS-inspired workshop. At the beginning, she introduced some of the participants to what ERASMUS is and what opportunities it provides. She also shared her own ERASMUS project experience in Georgia, speaking about what she learned and experienced during the mobility. Many youngsters became interested in creating something similar within the organisation, as the topics explored in the project felt important and meaningful for them. Planning for a local-scale project has already begun.

In the second part of the workshop, the group worked on the topic of Emotions. They started with a discussion about what emotions are and what functions they have. Together they also named the emotions they already know. Afterwards, each participant chose one Emotion card and had five minutes to reflect on when they feel this emotion the most, how it appears in their body, and what sensations come with it. The group then gathered in a circle, and each young person had two minutes to share why they chose their card and what came up during the reflection.

At the end of the workshop, the youngsters were invited to give short feedback on what they liked most and what they would like to improve or learn more about. Together they reached a shared conclusion:
✨ it feels good to have time for yourself and to work individually with your emotions and feelings.

Some participants also mentioned that this was the first time they had explored emotions in this way.

Mārīte was truly glad to see the group open up to this experience. All eight young people were meeting for the first time, and for many of them it was a big step to talk about such a personal topic in front of strangers — but they did it with courage and sincerity.

Youth work cannot exist without youth workers — they are the backbone of the entire field. It is their dedication, expertise, and commitment that turn strategic ideas into meaningful impact. Their daily work, curiosity, and ability to connect with young people are what truly bring youth work to life .✨

On 19th of november, Latvians were leading a youth worker training session focused on developing an effective youth work strategy. The Boost of Power cards once again proved to be an exceptional tool. They supported the process with clarity, structure, and inspiration, helping participants reflect on their roles, strengths, and feelings when working within a team.

3 trainings about Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem with young people in Latvia

Recently, three interactive training sessions were organized in Latvia with the aim of strengthening young people’s self-confidence, self-esteem, and overall personal awareness. These trainings brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and created a supportive environment where everyone could explore their strengths, reflect on their experiences, and better understand themselves. The activities focused largely on self-discovery and self-awareness. Young people took part in guided exercises that encouraged them to identify their personal values, talents, and internal motivations. Through group discussions and reflective journaling, participants learned to evaluate their past experiences, understand emotional patterns, and recognize the abilities they often overlook in everyday life. This reflective approach helped them build a more positive self-image and foster a stronger sense of identity. Another important part of the trainings was the exploration of how outdoor activities influence self-esteem and resilience. Participants were introduced to the idea that being in nature can significantly improve emotional well-being, reduce stress, and strengthen belief in one’s own abilities.

As a follow-up to the Boost of Power Erasmus+ training course, two interactive sessions were implemented with young people, focusing on self-confidence, self-resilience, and self-esteem through non-formal education methods.

The first session was conducted with an inclusive community of young people and started with a short dance energizer to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Participants were introduced to Erasmus+ projects and discussed how such opportunities support personal growth, well-being, and youth empowerment. The key concepts were first explored through participants’ own ideas and later clarified with short explanations. A vision board activity followed, allowing participants to reflect on their goals and future aspirations. After a short break, an activity adapted from the training course was implemented, highlighting the impact of negative and positive feedback. The session concluded with a reflection phase, during which participants shared their feelings and experiences.

The second session took place at Sumgayit Youth House with another group of young people. Participants were introduced to Erasmus+ opportunities through a short presentation followed by a discussion and Question/Answers.The same core concepts were explored through interactive discussion, and the image-based activity was repeated to reinforce learning. The session ended with a reflection, allowing participants to summarize their key takeaways.

Both sessions demonstrated how the methods and approaches from the Boost of Power project can be effectively adapted to local youth work, supporting young people’s emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience.

Turning learning into action - ARMENIA.

As part of my implemented work, I mainly worked with girls and refugee girls living in rural communities and socially disadvantaged conditions, considered a vulnerable group. I used the knowledge and methods gained during the Erasmus+ program in many communities across Armenia, working with girls aged 8 to 16 through non-formal and interactive education methods.

A key focus of my work was the topics “My Emotions” and “My Personal Boundaries.” During the “My Emotions” sessions, girls explored their feelings through creative activities. They drew themselves and showed which emotions they associate with different parts of their body, such as happiness, fear, anger, or calmness. These activities helped them better understand their emotions and learn simple ways to recognize and manage them in a healthy way.

The “My Personal Boundaries” sessions helped girls understand personal space, safety, and the importance of saying “yes” or “no.” Through discussions and activities, they learned how to respect their own boundaries and the boundaries of others, and how to communicate safely and confidently.

We also implemented the “Safe Space” game/activity. Through play, the girls explored what a safe space means to them, where they feel safe, and which people or environments help them feel protected. This activity was especially important for children from vulnerable backgrounds, as it created a feeling of trust, safety, and emotional support.

For many of these girls, participating in sports activities is extremely important. Most of them live in communities with limited opportunities and difficult social conditions. For many girls, these programs are the only chance to take part in activities outside of school, to play, express themselves, and build confidence. Sport becomes not only a physical activity, but also a tool for social inclusion, emotional well-being, and personal development.

These sessions were carried out in many communities, and the Erasmus+ knowledge and tools were adapted to each local context. As a result, the girls became more aware of their emotions and personal boundaries, more confident in expressing themselves, and more motivated to participate in sports and group activities in a safe and supportive environment.

From Karine

Here is information about one more session implemented by the Armenian team. It served as a general introduction to the topic of self-esteem and resilience. The session included a discussion on core values, a “values fair” exercise (buying and selling values), and a reflection linking the activity to the main topic. Please find the participant feedback from the Google Form below. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aXFX-jAo6mYd042H1mt1vBClbFm3KbHQpFm2QAWsDNc/edit?usp=sharing

This interactive workshop was based on the Perceptual Vignette method, exploring how people interpret the same situation differently depending on perspective and internal dialogue. The scenario described a university student who struggled briefly during a presentation and noticed classmates whispering afterward.

Participants worked in small groups, each assigned a different viewpoint:

Inner Critic: What harsh thoughts might she have? (e.g., “I’m terrible at this,” “Everyone thinks I’m stupid.”)

Realistic Thinker: What objectively happened? (e.g., She lost her words briefly; a few classmates whispered; most continued listening.)

Inner Coach: What would a supportive voice say? (e.g., “Mistakes are normal,” “You can improve,” “This doesn’t define you.”)

Each group recorded their perspective and shared it with the class, followed by a facilitated discussion comparing interpretations.

The workshop emphasized reflection, perspective-taking, and awareness of how thoughts shape emotional reactions, using collaborative tasks and guided discussion in a supportive environment.

Second activity:

During the session, participants were shown a picture and asked to write a short story describing what was happening. They were guided with two simple questions: “What is happening right now?” and “What do you see?”

Each participant interpreted the image from a different perspective. Although everyone observed the same picture, the stories varied significantly in tone, assumptions, and emotional interpretation.

The actual storyline of the image was neutral: A girl is sitting and looking at her phone. She has just said goodbye to her friends who are standing behind her, and she is waiting for her mother to come and pick her up.

After writing their stories individually, participants discussed their interpretations in small groups. They identified similarities and differences in their narratives and reflected on why they had perceived the situation the way they did. The discussion revealed how personal experiences, emotions, and assumptions influence perception.

https://youtu.be/z2ISRMSIyX8?si=z93lM5w6Ey5hKnZd -Russian dance rhythmic energizer

https://open.spotify.com/track/1sScWpEFQBSsnwRnyFtycm?si=pL3Cy4PyT-aSjVBFDWibqA -Background music

https://open.spotify.com/track/7hyAAjHZaDWSPDzlUYNUIa?si=83Vr7sSRQbC5YRwMjFg-lg -Background music

The cards can be used during workshops, educational activities, youth meetings, or for individual work as a tool supporting conversation and self-reflection.

The attached file contains information on where to find the “Boost Me” cards. Information about the game can also be found on a Facebook page that was originally dedicated to another game created by Ieva and Daniel– “Ask to Break the Ice” – and now also includes materials and updates related to “Boost Me.”
