For privacy's sake, I will not disclose any personal information of the affected person.

I know and am very close to this person. She was diagnosed with one of the chronic illnesses (RA) at the age of, 24. It was a sudden and extremely random thing so we were all shocked. Doctors gave up on her and said she would not make it past 25. She went through severe depression and shut herself off from everyone. She would not talk to anyone, look at anyone, cry herself to sleep at night and at any time in the day both due to the physical pain and mental struggle. Her ability to do simple tasks also was affected and she had to be treated literally like a baby. This caused her to sink further into depression, be angry and upset all the time and have a lot of self-pity.

Long story short, with the perseverence, help, unconditional love and support of family and friends, her mental health improved tremendously but slowly and she is now also in remission. She is currently 29 and happily married.

i know someone that has depression, where she she needs to eat medication and go for therapy. It was something that i could not understand as she was always smiling in front of others but at night she overthinks and cries herself to sleep. whenever i see her interacting with others i could not understand why she was so cheerful but when i talk to her about the issues she would just breakdown immediately. i thought that if one had depression they would be 24/7 sad and crying

I do have signs of anxiety disorder. I have been restless ever since this year started. As I took up two exco roles it has not been easy for me to juggle between school commitments, my interest group commitments and my social time. I feel pressured and worried whenever there are tight deadlines. Facing a large group to talk to as an introvert, I feel fear at times now that I need to communicate more with new people.

There were times when I felt depressed. Be it about preparation of examination, conflicts with family, or friends, I've been there. Most of the time, one of the things I would do when I feel depressed is to withdraw from people. I won't be in the mood to talk nor do I want to engage anyone about anything. And I think the only time I knew I'd hit rock bottom is when I start crying. I'm not one to cry over the smallest of things or breakdown easily, but when I do, thats when I know things is going extremely bad. There was a point of time I couldnt stand the mental pain and stress I was facing, so I turned to cutting my wrists. It felt satisfying at first until its not. Once I was slightly better, I could feel the pain from the cut and it hurts at the end. Of course, I know this is something I shouldnt do, and I will never encourage or flex on the fact that I've done so.

i know someone who struggled with depression in secondary school. She will often go to IMH but I am not so sure why she went there. I see that she will do her own stuff in class and be at one corner most of time, whenever we try to talk to her, she seems unbothered and had no interest to talk and wanted to do her own thing most of the time.
