The Agricultural Adjustment Act was a United States federal law of the New Deal era which reduced agricultural production by paying farmers subsides not to plant on the part of their land and to kill off excess life stock. Its purpose was o reduce crop surplus and therefore effectively raise the value of crops.

One of the causes of the Great Depression was the over production of food that farmers grew because of WWI. So when the market crashed, the farmers kept selling more and more food to sell to get more money, but when that wasn't enough, they would buy more land to grow more crops so they can sell those crops to get the money to pay off the loans. It was an endless cycle

Most people during this time declared this act unconstitutional during 1936, but during WWII, AAA actually decided to increase the production of food instead just to meet the war's needs
