So the government passed the Military Reconstruction Act. This law made the military split the southern states into military zones.. The military were then like the police which means they enforced the laws fairly. He was the 16th president of the USA and had many great accomplishments. He lead the union to victory in the civil war and freed slaves by passing the Emancipation Proclamation. Without it we wouldn't be where we are now. The military reconstruction act was a big success. Reconstruction made freed slaves lives much better. The Freedmen´s Bureau helped many freed slaves and poor white citizens. Abraham Lincolns plan to get the south to come back to the union was easy on the south but when Andrew Johnson became president, he made it harder for the south to come back to the union. Making it harder to come back showed that the states that came back were going to be more loyal.
