         <description><![CDATA[<div>Over time the concentrations decrease and the tanks need to be replenished. To accomplish this, acid tanks are partially emptied to make room for adding virgin HCL. By doing this the company is wasting a lot of money that can easily be saved when they can easily reduce toxics, metals, hazardous waste, water, energy consumption, greenhouse gases and costs. For example, in order to reduce the money spent on plating the company can mix the tanks with eductors instead of air mixing. This will save the company $700. They can also increase dwell time and reduce dragout which will result in $300 in annual savings, use spent acid to backwash zinc filter which will result in $1200 in annual savings, install acid purification system and reuse purified acid will result in $45,000 in annual savings, reuse spent acid between tanks requiring similar concentrations will result in $4000 in annual savings, pump overflow from water rinse tank to acid rinse tank to reduce flash rust allowing the company to save $600, use rinse water for make-up in heated zinc tank saving the company $100 in annual savings, conductivity controls on plating line rinse tanks resulting in $28,000 in annual savings, flow restrictors on plating lines causing the company to save $45000. The company could also potentially make changes to the building services. They can have $22,300 in annual savings by replacing the larger flow wash fountains with smaller ones, install highly efficient toilets and lighting.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Overall, after knowing the statistics of the solutions discussed, I think it is more profitable for the company to prevent pollution from occurring. This is because not as many changes would have to take place. Instead of paying for materials and systems that are not efficient and then purchasing efficient ones after results in money being wasted. The company could easily just buy the more efficient items first even if they cost a little more to avoid buying both. Also, it is easier to prevent pollution from occurring then deal with it after it is produced because most of the time the harm is already done. It is almost impossible to remove the pollution they had already released into the atmosphere. All the company could do after it is produced is change their systems so no more pollution is produced. This makes the situation more complicated and makes the process longer resulting in pollution and money wasted. </div>]]></description>
